The Perfect Promposal

"Prom.." I sighed sitting in my room staring at the wall. It's my junior year of high school and my first prom is coming quickly. I'm going alone, like every other dance. If my best friend was here I'd totally go with him! He's not just my bff though. We both have a bunch of crazy feelings for each other that can't be explained by either of us. His name is Austin Lake and he lives in Mississippi. I would be going to prom with him if we lived closer.. You see, I live in Kansas. My father is in the military which means we move constantly! I moved away from him during eighth grade. Before I moved we knew we liked each other but decided not to date because long distance is hard. Ever since than we've been best friends who call almost everyday. We tried long distance once but it only lasted 2 weeks. It won't work out between me and Austin unless we live closer.
Currently, it's March 6. Exactly 1 month away from my first prom! I'm in the middle of trying on this beautiful dress in JCPenny's. It's long and light pink and has a slit with a nice v neck! Thankfully I already have heels and jewelry that match at home!
The day finally came. I looked stunning when everything was done and put on me! It was time to take pictures with my family and friends. It was just going to be us girls tonight! They all seemed really nervous. Probably because it's our first prom! I was too tbh. After a few good pictures we went inside to grab everything we needed for the night like phones, makeup, feminine products, and any other things we might need. The limo our mom's had helped to rent for us was here! There was 6 of us girls. Some of them had dates they would meet later at the prom and some of us didn't have dates but when I walked outside to get in the limo they were all standing with guys, their crushes! I don't know how they did it! They had huge grins on their faces and stared at me in silence. I stood in front of everyone just watching as they enjoyed themselves. Then a hole started to open right in the middle..
"A-Austin?" My eyes watered as I walked to my finely dressed best friend. "You're here?" I whispered with a shaky voice. Everyone had their phones out video tapping us. He was standing with a sign that said, 'I know you've waited so long but will you let me take you to prom?'.
"Prom?" He chuckled standing in front of me smiling.
I nodded my head a few times then ran into his arms for the first hug I've gotten in years.
After all that, the rest of our night was great! All of us and our dates had a few slow dances then partied afterwards!!

That would be legendary. Honestly I was writing about my perfect prom! Most of what is said in there is real. Like how my bff lives somewhere else than me and how one of us moved away.. (that's not his names nor do we live in those states) if he came to see me it would be so amazing! It's been a little over a year since I've seen him. I moved away in the middle of either grade and we haven't seen each other since then..  We wouldn't be able to go to prom together because we are both freshmen. Even so, I still wanted to enter in this contest!
