I groaned and looked at the clock on my side table.

3:18 AM

"Shit...I'm late." I muttered and rubbed my eyes. I flung my legs over the side of my bed, narrowly missing stepping on my cat, Ginger. He hissed and ran off.

"Yeah, yeah whatever turd" I chuckled. I finally got the energy to stand up and stretch my arms. I slipped on some black skinny jeans and an old cut up slipknot shirt.

Sighing, I grabbed my boots and shoved them on before heading to my car.

"Why do I still do this?" I asked myself once I sat in my car "he's not gonna come back."

I pulled into the parking lot of the Seven-Eleven and walked to the back of the gas station to the Slurpee machine.

"A little late tonight, huh?" The man at the register asked. I nodded and grabbed a cup.

As I was adding the cherry to the coke I already had, the bell on the door rang and a group of heavily tattooed men walked in rather loudly. I laughed and rolled my eyes.

I placed the lid on the cup and started heading to the register, but I glanced at one of the guys and laughed. His gaze soon met mine and he smiled wide.

I smirked at him. "Even after seven years, you still have a perfect smile, Carlile." I stated. His friends stopped talking and watched us intently.

"Seven years? Really?" He asked. I nodded and leaned on the counter.

"Yep. You left seven years ago. Didn't tell me goodbye, or even that you were leaving. I had to find out from your dad." I shrugged.

"Why are you here so late?" He eyed me suspiciously. "Well just because you left doesn't mean I'd break my routine. It's been 18 years of it. So I'd figured why stop it now?"

He grinned. "I'm here for that too. I thought that since I was in my home town and it's this time of night, why not bring back good memories." I nodded and shifted my weight to my other foot.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked looking at the ground. He heaved a long sigh then rubbed the back of his neck. "It's a long story, Leeah...."

I looked up and nodded to my car. "Care to explain?"
