I looked in the mirror and moved my hair to the side. I took out a small container and opened it. I took out only one contact and put it into my left eye.
I just can't afford to be bullied again. I can't let anyone know about my eye. I then hear my father's voice from downstairs.
"Demi! Hurry up and get down here!" "Coming!" I yell back. I look in the mirror one last time and go downstairs. As I walked into the kitchen, I see him serving both of us a plate of eggs, sausages and...
PANCAKES!
I smile, "what, you finally have enough time to cook breakfast today?" I ask him, hiding my excitement. I sit down at the table and he pours syrup on my pancakes. "Ha ha, very funny. I don't have work today. I told you, remember?" He says sitting across from me. I eat my food, it's soo good! I constantly look out the window.
I hear the bus start honking. "Crap! I gotta go dad!" I say, grabbing my bag. I'm halfway out the front door when he grabs my arm and pulls me into a hug. "D.....dad, come on, I'm going to miss the bus." I say, feeling him squeeze me more. "I gotta go now. I promise I'll tell you everything when i get back." I tell him.
I'm halfway out the door, when he grabs my arm and hugs me tightly. "I... Dad, I have to go or I'll miss the bus." I tell him as I try to pry his arms off of me. He pulls my face up so I'm looking at him. I see tears in his eyes and his wonderful smile. Then, I watch as it fades and he looks confused.
"Why... What did you do to your eye?" I feel his arms loosen from around me and I push him off. "I just want to make a good impression at school today!" I yell as I run out.
"BYE!" I hear him call out after me. I look back and give him a wink. I smile to myself.
When I get to the bus stop, there are two other people in front of me, boarding the bus. I get on after them, looking at the bus driver.
He glances at me and gives me a warm smile. I smile back at him. I walk towards the back of the bus. Everyone looks at me.
Like a normal person.
I reach the last row and sit down. I'm alone but, I don't care. A new reputation for me. Brand new school and I will not mess this up for myself. I'll wear the contacts everyday if I have to because this...
is amazing.
