~Chapter Six~

"See, he's misunderstood. At the end, he was kind and tolerating of everyone else. He had no choice," Lauren argued.

"I'm not denying that, I denying that Lucius was ever a nice guy!" I exclaimed.

"Okay, give me the baby," Julia said, sensing that this was going to get heated. I obeyed. "And for the record, Lucius was probably a good parent at some point."

"Truce," Lauren suggested, sticking her arm out.

"Truce," I agreed, shaking it. Lauren went to talk to Joey and I sat down against the wall, falling into deep thoughts. Within a few seconds, I found Chuck sitting next to me.

"Is everything alright?" He asked me. I nodded.

"I'm still trying to get used to moving overseas," I said.

"Just remember that we're here for you. It's hard. I mean, probably your first clear memory of us all together," he said. I rested my head on his shoulder.

"I should probably be doing work, but it's due in a week. It can wait," I said. Darren sat on the other side of me.

"Robert called you," he said, handing me my phone. I smiled and called Robert back.

"Hey!" Robert exclaimed.

"Hi. How was work?" I asked.

"Stressful. You wouldn't believe what happened."

"Oh no. What?"

"Allison dropped out."

"Two more weeks. I'm sorry to tell you this, but you're fucked," I sighed. I quickly covered the receiver. "Am I allowed to curse?"

I looked at everyone. "If Julia doesn't hear," Darren answered.

"Okay."

"Yeah, so we need to recast Julie's role. Luckily, it's a simple ensemble member."

"I don't doubt you. Remember, I'm just a call away," I said.

"On that note, how was it, meeting your entire family?"

"I found home," I said in awe.

"Good. Well, I need to recast, but I'll call you when I wake up."

"Okay. Goodbye." I hung up and put away my phone, "His lead role dropped out."

"In his directing project?" Darren asked. I nodded.

"What is this project you speak of?" Chuck asked me, being a bit out of the loop.

"Robert's directing a play. His lead dropped out and he got lucky. All he needs to recast is a member of the ensemble," I said.

"I'm going to buy groceries," Lauren said.

"Can you take my sister from me?" Darren asked, in mock disgust.

"Hey!" I exclaimed, elbowing him softly, but still going with Lauren. We started driving to the supermarket.

"So, how did you find Darren?" Lauren asked.

"Well, ever since my adoptive parents told me I was adopted, we took some DNA tests. And only recently they found Darren and Chuck," I explained.

"Well, if you were curious, they both knew they had a sister, but you were always a baby face in a photo album and a name," Lauren said, pulling up to the supermarket. We got out and went through the aisles. "You're also gluten-free, right?"

"Yeah," I confirmed.

"Finally! I have a purpose to eat gluten-free that's not me being selfish!" Lauren exclaimed, getting a cart. We went through the aisles and got a lot of food. Probably because of the amount of people. Joey and Lauren were staying for two months and the Holdens were going to leave in about two weeks. Chuck was staying until about a week before I went to Chicago with Joey and Lauren.

GUYS!!! Thanks for making this book number one in Jaime Lyn Beatty!!! It's finally Friday, thank goodness! We had Monday off and Tuesday was a snow day!!! I know, it's crazy! My life is great for now. I feel like crying for no reason, but that's that. The school talent show is Monday and I'm putting something in there that I'll update you guys on on Monday. Except we have a history full-on exam on Monday which I don't want to do. My teacher is very vague in matters like that. I also don't know if you've seen all the Instagram pictures of Darren's wedding! I forgot to mention that I wish him and Mia the best married life in the last chapter. So:
