I first learned about my homeland when I was six years old. I asked my mother where I came from, and she said, "Keulen." She told me where my family was from, and why we left. It was another two years before I was told exactly who caused it.
Much has been written about Adversa; her ideas, her rise to power, her methods, her personal life. But perhaps no volume is as definitive as the on she wrote about herself. Though the book was obviously never published in its original form, it was distributed across Eurasia. None of these books are exactly the same and few are in perfect condition. Many were burned during the Occupation.
In Vienna 1953, a crucifix was found atop Leopoldsberg Hill. Nailed to one side was what is agreed to be Adversa, likely placed there after death. On the other side, there was a copy of her book. It is that copy that we use for the current edition. In reading this, be aware that the following are the unfiltered thoughts of a woman who brought an entire continent to heel.
