Alex's P.O.V

"Just once why can't you be like you're brother Justin" I rolled my eyes at my mother's words. this is the third time I've heard them this hour.

"You'd like that wouldn't you" I mumble bitterly while staring off to the side

"Yea I would actually, look at you the family wizard and yet all you do is sit around the house , your talented  i know you are. if you really applied yourself like Justin you'd get places in life" her tone softened as she went. My temper only grew when the words " like Justin" were used.

"Like Justin." The words were like a bullet to my heart. "I'm never gonna be like justin. why can't you just understand that? I'm Alex that's the only person I know how to be , the only person I ever want to be" My word grew soft as I went my expression softening.

"Alex" A voice spoke from behind me, capturing the attention of me and mom. There stood the youngest of our family, Max. "I'm about to leave for the train to Central City"

"Central City?" I cocked my head to the side as a sign I didn't understand "Your gonna leave?"

"Yea I got a job over there , someplace called Jitters. I needed a break from new york, looks like you might too" Max snuck a quick glance at mom who stood quiet throughout the whole conversation. "I was wondering if you wanted to come along"

I looked at mom, she was crying. it made me want to stay, the pleading look on her face she didn't want all of her children to leave and I knew it.

I would have stayed ,but those words, those stupid words. The ones I know will haunt me for the rest of my life

like Justin

I would always be in his shadow as long as I stayed so with one last fleeting look at my mom my mind was made up.

"Central city, here we come"
