《Prologue》

The Keeper of Death or as very few knew him, Pete was alone.

It didn't always used be that way. When the universe was created, it also created Life and Death. His brother and himself were the living embodiment of these things, created to watch over Life and Death and to keep things in balance. His brother and he were always together, but one day his brother sealed himself off in a place he created and called Heaven.

That was the first time Pete had ever felt alone.

Pete would soon find out his brother was tinkering with a new creation while in Heaven, one that would soon be known as Humanity.

His brother showed him his new creation, he smiled and showed his support. Deep down, Pete couldn't help but be jealous.

The Keeper of Death watched his brother's creation, the creation that took up all of his brother's time as he tried to perfect it. Pete wanted to show that Humanity had its flaws. So, Pete took a visit down to Earth to prove that everything can't be perfect. He gave them the temptation, hoping it would take off from there.

Pete then watched as Humanity did something his brother didn't expect. Pete watched as one human took that temptation and did the forbidden, the unimaginable, and took another life.

His brother was enraged, asking Pete to create a place that was the exact opposite of Heaven so if other humans did any wrongs, they had a place to go in the afterlife.

And thus Hell was created, along with a purpose that Pete had never had before. That purpose was to decide where souls ended up and guide them there.

While Pete was discovering this, his brother was yet again tinkering with another creation. He wanted to create something to distract that temptation in humans. He finally found the perfect solution with the concept of soulmates.

If humans knew there was someone destined to be with them, they would spend their time trying to find that certain someone. At first, it didn't work so well. Hardly any human found their destined match, until he created the soul mark. The spot where your soulmate will first touch you. The Keeper of Life had made sure each one was different and that it always resembled something about their soulmate.

Though humans still gave into their temptations, his concept of soulmates was still groundbreaking and it did work most of the time.

Through the eons, both Pete and his brother kept things in balance, Pete guiding souls to their destined location and his brother looking after his creations. Pete would see his brother occasionally and everytime he saw that the Keeper of Life was happy. His brother could see that Pete was lonely and had an idea to fix that.

He would give his own brother a soulmate of his own.

And that was how Pete one day discovered a weird sensation on his forearm as the constellation of Taurus appeared on his skin.
