starting school

My eyes opened, and i got out of my bed. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, and slipped into my black t-shirt to match with my flannel sweatpants. My hair was messy from the sleep the night before but i didn't bother brushing it, grabbing a book from the shelf and putting it on my head. I stuck my arms out and walked down the hallway and the stairs all silly-like. I was exited. my Hogwarts letter was going to arrive soon. Letting the book fall from my head, i skipped to the breakfast table. James was already there. "morning Mousy" he said tapping my nose playfully. "I think someone was supposed to get his Hogwarts letter today." he said, falsely oblivious. "Oh, i wonder who." My eyes rolled at the comment. "James, (Y/n) come get breakfast." our mother called from the kitchen. Our mother and father were old, even by wizarding standards. My father was a retired cosmetic potionier, quite successful at that, having quite a bit of fame from the invention of hair care products. I've heard people joking that that's why we have such long, uncontrollable heads of hair, and i cant say i blame them. As i came back to reality, James and i made eye contact. Sharing a grin, the both of us swiftly standing from our seats, racing to the kitchen. The sweet smell of pastries filled my senses as i entered the kitchen. Freshly baked pumpkin pasies sat on the counter. The traditional birthday treat our mother prepared on our birthdays. And my favorite.   

"Walk, you two!" My mothers voice spoke, firm in tone, but looking at her you could see the fond smile on her face as she handed each of us a plate, mine having one more then James. I stuck my tounge out at him, causing him to scrunch his face in return. 

"Thank you mum." I smiled, lifting one of the pastries from my plate. I took a bite, and it tasted better than anything of its kind iv'e ever tasted. "This is amazing, mum, you've truly outdone yourself!" I set aside the plate, giving her a hug happily. 

"Happy birthday, love." She ruffled my dark, curly locks fondly, before releasing me from the hug, handing me the plate. "Now go eat, we've a big day today i'm sure."

I gave her yet another greatful smile before bringing myself to the dining room, sitting next to James who, of course, was gobbling down his food so quickly i was sure he couldn't even taste it. "Somewhere more important to be?" i asked, grinning, receiving an eyeroll from my brother, setting down his food to say something, most likely snarky, but being swiftly interrupted by the sound of loud knocking at the door. My eyes lit up at the noise.

"Well? What are you waiting for? Go get the mail, birthday boy." He spoke as he watched me bounce up and out of my seat, running to the door, nearly tripping and causing some decor to fall onto the carpet.

 "WALK! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU?" our mother shouted from the kitchen.

My mind raced as i searched through the enveloped, and sure as day, there was a tan letter with a red seal on it. I jumped up and down happily as i dropped the rest of the mail, causing a disatisfied grumble from my father on the couch, i ripped the thing open, squealing with exitement as i read it. "I got in!! I got in i got in!!" I yelped happily, jumping up and down.

"Well of course they've accepted you, your a Potter." James spoke from the table, standing and abandoning his food, walking over to me and holding out his hand. "Well? Lets see it."

With an excited squeak, i shoved the letter into his hands, watching as he examined it. My hands balled into fists and shook back and forth slightly as he smiled and handed it back. "You're definitely in." He laughed softly, bringing me in for a hug. "And now i get to terrorise you all year round!"

"What?!"
