"Tauriel, must you go?" I asked.

"Little one, you know I must. The king has banished me for the loved I carried of a dwarf. You must be brave now. And when you're an adult, you'll understand better than I can explain now."

"But Killy died! Are you not even allowed to mourn in my presence before you must leave? I will beg the king! I'll do anything for him to let you stay here! I'll enlist in the guard so you can stay with me!"

"Would you truly sacrifice your whole live, never knowing love, in order to keep your sister her with you?" King Thranduil stood at the door to my sister's chamber.

"No!"

"Tauriel?!"

"You majesty, I want my sister to stay here. I cannot lose her as well. I will leave as you commanded. Please," Tauriel kneeled before me and gripped my shoulders tightly, "Promise me you won't become part of the guard. Yes, you may ask anyone who wishes to teach you what you must learn in order to stay alive, but please never join the guard. I want this as your last promise to me. Please, Caliel. I can't bear for you to have no future but the guard." I had been crying already, all day really; but I couldn't deny Tauriel.

"We'll find each other again, right?" She nodded and wiped away a few of my tears. "Then I promise. I won't join the guard. You must find me in the future."

"I promise this to you, Caliel. You will not be alone forever." Before I could say more, the king's voice ran out.

"It is time to leave, Tauriel." My sister stood. She never wavered, never looked back, never missed a step. I was held back by King Thranduil himself. He refused to let me go after Tauriel. "Caliel." I looked to the king with dead eyes. "You must let Tauriel go. She must mourn the death of her dwarf on her won. You will see her again."

"How am I to see Tauriel if you won't let her come back? You won't let me leave." I was devastated. I had just lost the last of my family.

"You will see her again. When you are an adult, you will be allowed to leave my kingdom if you wish. You will not be forced to stay here forever." King Thranduil answered. I could not contain myself. I hugged King Thranduil's legs, which is all I could reach, as tightly as I could.
