Bruce read over the note for the third time, the fireplace casting a mess of flames on the back of the yellowed paper. It didn't seem real. Who was she kidding? Bruce Wayne didn't have any biological children! The farthest into father-hood he'd gotten was adopting young boys and training them how to be fighters. That was it! Rubbing his two day stubble, he thought over the last time he had seen Talia. They shared a night together after battle, one in which he got drunk and woozy after the first sip of his wine. That must have been how it happened. Shaking his head, Bruce read over the letter yet again.
"Dear, Beloved. It is now that I've decided to write you this letter; I cannot hold these secrets anymore. The night of your last brawl with my father, we spent the evening together. You may not recall, as I had added a little something special to your drink. Nevertheless, we had a great evening together, one that I will always treasure. It is with that information, that I tell you the news; you have two children.
Our youngest looks just like you; night black hair, blue eyes and a tight-set jaw. He's very determined and loves to fight, just like his father. His name is Damian. I've told him stories about you, about the amazing things you have done in your lifetime. He says he cannot wait to meet you and become a fighter just like his father.
Our oldest is a girl, Atarah. Isn't that a beautiful name? It means royalty; in which she knows she is and is not afraid to show it. She's a fighter just like you and Damian; strong-willed, head strong and brave. I've never truly met anyone like her before.
Only years later I've written this letter to you, Beloved, because I need your help. My father has been murdered and it is now my turn to lead the League of Shadows. I give you full custody of the children. I trust that while I am gone you watch out for them and protect them in the ways that I do. Meet me at my Father's palace tomorrow. We will do our tradeoff then."
