Jak X! Cutter x Reader Part 3

Start from the beginning

"No, I haven't heard anything from him. I'll call him later and make sure he's all right," you answered with a small shrug of your shoulders. Your father smiled slightly, knowing you were worried about the man.

"If he doesn't want to work under Carter, he's welcome in the Development Team," you blinked in surprise at the man in front of you. He chuckled slightly before standing to his feet. "Jake can't speak highly enough of him. It's an offer and it stands if he wants a job," your father added before leaning over and kissing your head. "Take tonight off," your father ordered before turning and leaving the room.

You looked at the files on your desk before shrugging and putting them away in a cabinet and locking it securely. Once done, you pulled your phone from your pocket and dialled in Cutters' number. The phone rang and rang but no answer came from the other end.

You frowned, pulled the phone away from your ear and gathered your things before walking to the exit of your office. You locked it behind you and dialled in the Development Departments main number.

"(L/N) Development Department, Jake speaking. How can I help?" you smiled slightly at Jakes' polite voice on the other end of the phone.

"Jake, it's (Y/N)," you spoke with a small smirk on your face.

"Ah, the greatest employer of all time, well, your father is but you will be when he retires. Anyway, I'm rambling. What's up, (Y/N)?" you laughed at Jakes' incessant rambling. The Development Department was, without a doubt, your favourite department due to Jake. He was lively and liked to ramble a lot.

"Is Cutter down there with you guys?" you asked with a slightly humoured voice.

"No. Cutter hasn't been down here all day," Jake answered with a confused voice. "Is everything okay? Is my boy, Cutter okay?!" the man questioned with a worried tone to his voice. You chuckled slightly.

"He's fine. I'll speak to you later," you smiled and hung the phone up without an answer from Jake and made your way to the exit of the building.

You looked around when you exited, but Cutters' car was nowhere to be seen. With a small sigh, you started to walk home. Despite the information of Mizos' death, you were almost certain Cutter would be fine.

You reached your home with no problems. You assumed that, despite his death, Mizos' Mafia was still out patrolling the streets. That or the Crime Lords had some kind of respect to not immediately move in on his side of town.

The sound of a purring engine caught your ears before you could find your keys from your bag. You looked over your shoulder to see Cutters' car coming up from the gate. You rummaged through your bag, finding your keys with little difficulty and opened the door as Cutter stopped his car.

You waited patiently for the brunette haired man. Cutter opened his car door and stepped out, locking the car behind him before making his way to where you were patiently waiting for him.

"Evening," you greeted with a small nod. Cutter gave you his best smile, having left his mask in the car. He leaned down a second later and planted a gentle kiss on your lips. You smiled, returning the kiss before Cutter pulled away.

"You finished early," Cutter stated, reaching around you to open the door to your home. You walked inside, wanting to be out of the slightly chilly evening air. Cutter followed you, closing the door behind him.

"Father told me to finish early. We got news on Mizo from Carter," you explained, turning to look at the brunette with a sad smile. Cutter frowned at the mention of his old boss. You took the brunette by his wrist and led him into the kitchen.

Cutter sat at the island in the middle of the kitchen while you walked to the counter and started to boil the kettle in order to make some tea for the both of you.
