i looked up, wearing my sparkly crown as i headed to my throne. i sat on it proudly as i enjoyed the cool breeze.

my mind scrolled through the recent news, before a certain one hit me. i remember now.

''they were defended by a strong-''

''unfortunately they had to leave-''

i blinked without words. my jaw dropped open as i was lost in thought. the piece of news was similar to what i'd experienced.. long ago, perhaps?

all of a sudden, a voice nearby pulled me away from my thoughts. i gasped and snapped back to reality, and realized i was looking at him.

''helloooo~!'' the cat in front of me yowled. i jolted up.

''oh, it's just you,'' i mewed in relief, chuckling, before looking around at the clearing. the cat sat beside me and fidgeted excitedly.

''whaaat's up?'' he purred, his tail swishing as he hummed to a random song. i sat back in my throne, trying to think of what happened in the past.

then it hit me.

''WHY ARE YOU LEAVING?!''

I cried out, yowling at him, rooted to the ground. ''WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!''

He growled and stopped paying attention to my pleading.

''YOU'VE HAD ENOUGH OF ME! IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO ACTUALLY GROW.''

His eyes narrowed as he lunged forward, aiming for my belly and leaving a rough scar on it. I wailed in pain, but eventually stood up again.

''HONEY, NO!''

I continued to stand there helplessly as he gritted his teeth, unsheathing his claws. He glowered at me one last time, before looking away and whispered loud enough so I could hear.

''I'm sorry it had to be this way.''

I stretched out my paw to stop him, but he leapt out of the door, leaving me alone again. It was too late.

I fell onto the ground, bawling my eyes out. I felt like I was sinking in my own pool of tears.

Why did he leave...?

I shook my fur so that the dust wouldn't infect my fur. I took deep breaths and sat back in silence.

He's gone forever now.

''HEY! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!'' i heard some yelling and snapped out of my trance. I shook my head and blinked at the blank world.

''wha.. sorry..'' i took a deep breath before focusing on reality.

''we have a meeting later with him,'' the cat yawned before curling his tail around me. i purred and leaned beside him. now he's the one i want and have. not... him.

''it's in about half an hour,'' i meowed. ''by the way, who...?''

''...oh. right,'' i realized.

oh god. i realized it was him i was meeting with.

today was the end of a beginning, and a beginning of an end.
