The boy slowly made his way home after a long, hard, boring day at school. The boy held his head low and kept his gaze on the ground he walked on. "I know I'm bleeding," the boy would think to himself as the side of his shoe rubbed against the cut up, buring skin on his ankle. "But some like to bleed," the boy also thought as he came to a stop at the edge of a forest. Everyday the boy walked home from school he would walk along the edge of this forest to lead him home. And everyday the boy would stop in his same spot and look as far into the forest as he could.

"I'm not like that some, I don't like to bleed." The boy's tone filled with rage as he muttered. "Just.....like..." the boy's voice started to become louder as he reached for the old, worn-out shoe that had caused the cut on his ankle.  "Just.....like...." the boy spoke louder as he pulled the white shoelace, loosening the shoe on his foot. "To....be...." the boy's voice went back to an angery mutter as he took off his shoe and held it in his hands.  "Just like how I don't like to be alone!" The boy screamed and threw the shoe as far as he could into the forest. Falling to his knees the boy would sob, cupping his face in his hands. Removing one hand the boy would punch the ground, gripping grass in his fists and ripping it from the ground.

Every week day this would happen, the boy would break into a tantrum and complain to, what the boy thought was just nature, about his lonliness. The boy would seek comfort from leaves and family from trees. Still crying but feeling like he let go of some of the rage in his scream the boy looked up, only to find he wasn't alone. Standing where the boy's shoe had landed stood a girl with dark brown wavey hair and green eyes. The girl wore black skinny jeans, with many rips and red stains on it, and a tight black tank top with what looked like blood stains on it. "You threw your shoe at me...." the girl's voice carried with a sudden breeze that ran through the forest. The boy's eyes widened with shock as the girl spoke. the boy tried to speak but all that came out was a nervous squeak. Hearing the squeak the girl picked up the shoe and jumped up into the air, only to then dissappear.

Able to speak again the boy practically spit out the words, "Wait! Don't leave yet!" A slow, cool, haunting wind blew through the forest carrying the girl's gentle sounding voice, "Would you like your shoe?" The boy quickly looked around again but paused when his gaze met the girl's as she sat in a tree. "Yes, but um....Who are you?" The boy asked with a nervous tone. Hopping down from the tree and landing right infront of the boy the girl responded cheerfully. "My name is Catie" the girl paused, "now, if you want your shoe back you'll have to do me a favor." The boy raised a brow and asked. "A favor?"

The girl giggled uncontrollably. "Yes a favor, and that favor is........you will play with me." The boy got up slowly as he narrowed his eyes at the girl. "I'm sixteen years old. I'm sorry but I don't play" the boy said annoyed. The girl tilted her head slightly, "I know you are and I am too. When you were three your favorite game was hide and seek. Please, play with me." The boy eyes widened once again at th statement the girl had made, it was true, his favorite game was hide and seek when he was younger. But how would she know this?

The boy asked exactly what he thought. "How do you know this?" The girl broke out in laughter again, even though her laugh was still uncontrollable she managed to say, "You should know this." Dusting himself off the boy said, "Well I don't, so explain." The girl's laughter stop suddenly, for a moment the boy thought that the girl's eyes had changed to red but he blamed it on the light since it was getting darker. The girl explained, but her tone was different. "All these times you came here to complain about your lonliness, nature heard you and responded by making me. I'm here to keep you company, forever."

Grabbing the shoe out of the girl's hand and starting to walk away the boy said, "Ya okay. Look, I don't know who you are and I really have to go, it's getting late. You should go home too."

"This is my home." The girl muttered, her voice sounding dark and strange. It had almost seemed as if all the happiness and cheer that she showed before was suddendly washed out of her. "Alright then, have fun sleeping under a bush. Oh and don't get a stick stuck up your ass," the boy said. The girl grabbed his arm violently. "Don't make us angry. Nature has listened to you and has responded, you can't just walk away." The time the sun moved into a perfect position so the boy could see the girl's eyes perfectly, they were blood red. A blood red that look so real, and was real since blood started dripping from the corner of the girl's eyes. "Stay with us forever, you will never be alone again." The girl grabbed the hem of his shirt and started leading the boy deeper into the forest.

"Get off me! Help! Hel-" Before the boy could finish the girl turned around and looked at him straight in the eyes. The girl started giggled as she took her other hand and stroked his cheek. "You'll make the perfect tree." The boy started to panic as he tried to escape out of the girl's grip. While moving around the boy looked around only to notice something that made him panic even more. "Do you like your new family?" The girl asked as her laughter started up again. The boy looked around at every tree only to see that thier was a face imprinted in the bark. The girl muttered, "Nature tried helping them, but they tried to run. So nature's mood sort of got a little......" the girl breathed in deeply, ".......dirty!!!" The girl screamed and laughed as she started to lead the boy over to a tree with no face, yet

The boy clumsily stumbled over a rock. "Careful now..." the girl started, "I don't want you getting poked in the eye by a family member. Then again, I might shove a stick up your ass!" The girl's laugh sounded more demonic everytime. The girl's pale skin started to slowly turn into bark but her eyes remained blood red. "How about we play a game now?" The girl laughed as her fingers started to turn into long sticks. the girl slammed the boy's back into a tree, knocking the wind out of him. "I call this game....." the girl grinned, her teeth were now many sharp rows of twigs, " Hide and - "

Before she could finish the boy yelled, "Stop! What do you want?" The girl smiled eerily, "All I wanted was to play hide and seek." The girl laughed and the boy started to feel himself being comsumed by the bark. "Don't worry you won't bleed to much, I know you don't like that." The girl giggled. "Hell, you've told me everything."

The last thing the boy saw before the bark covered his eyes was the girl turn back into a tree and his shoe laying on one of the roots.
