The magical sound of fingers hitting a keyboard filled the room and Luca Cross stopped her endless typing to breathe in a peaceful sigh. Though she was the most skilled hacker in all of the realms, this was taking a bit longer than expected. One week. That was how long she had been sitting in her room, on the very chair she sat on now, trying to hack into the files, her fingers aching from all of the endless hours of typing and clicking.

The files of course, were the key to everything. With the files, you could do anything. You could control half of the world and kill the other. Of course, it had take a week for her to be able to crack codes and get her way into the system undetected. She had taken precaution after precaution, hiding her location so it would be almost impossible for her to be found using any sort of device (not almost impossible. Impossible. How proud her father would be of her), not to mention none of those idiots who managed the thing would ever notice her getting in to begin with.

And of course, eight days ago when she had been trying to find reasons for Madelyn to stop calling her a cinnamon roll and Lilith to stop looking down at her like she was a crackhead that wasn't to be taken seriously, it had come to her. She could hack into the files! They would respect her then. They would fear her then. Just like the rest of the world, that is, if they ever found out. One or two people then. She decided. One or two people to know what she was going to be capable of and the rest of the world left in the dark.

Eight days ago she had promised that she would be feared. She had sworn it. Of course the two knuckleheads hadn't taken her seriously. She replayed the conversation in her mind for the 100th time:

"I will be feared." Vowed Luca as she clenched her fists where she sat in Porcelain Thrones, the place where almost everyone who didn't live under a rock (like her) went to get ready for all of the many balls and dances hosted at the palace and, even though she hated the dancing, and the gossip, and the dresses, both Lilith and Madelyn had dragged her there and here they were.

Lilith was wearing a teal dress that exposed her sides that glimmered every time she moved with a long train in the back consisting of roses and lace and silver sparkles that glinted weightlessly  while Madelyn had on the biggest, most poofy dress she had ever seen (They called it the "Ultimate Floof.") that glimmered in shades of white and silver as the sides poofed out a good two feet, if not more.

As for her, she had on a white dress as well, but more subtle looking, halting at her knees (something that she wouldn't have to worry about tripping over) with white fur around the shoulders and chest. Somehow she didn't think that the outfit she had chosen for tonight wouldn't help her win the argument that they were having.

"I will be feared." She repeated, teeth clenched and hands in fists. Lilith looked up from one of the vanities where she was putting on a tiara consisting of round white gems and a blue diamond in the middle, going around her forehead. Though Lilith could never be seen in anything other than black, purple, and occasionally a hint of white with ripped jeans and a jacket, it seemed that with the small handful of balls and dances she went to, she dressed the part.

"The only thing that I find fearful about you is how adorable you are." The dark angel said with a grin as she looked at Luca through the mirror.  Madelyn giggled from where she sat at the adjacent mirror, white boots with a three inch heal to them propped up on the table with a half eaten chocolate bar in one hand. Madelyn.

Luca gave a frustrated growl and waited in silence for the two pains to finish up, fixing her eyes on the row of perfumes that had been set out in front of the seat she sat in for anyone to access and refusing to take her attention off of them, staring intently at the fancy cursive written on the one in the middle.

Luca's hands clenched at the memory and she quickly went back to her hacking. She was close, so very close to finishing this. Her fingers hit the keys rhythmically, her fingers gracefully touching each key as she typed in password after damn password. Another level had been unlocked. She let herself let out a sigh of contentment and went on, not letting herself take a break any longer than a few seconds. Her typing quickened as she neared, closer and closer to her goal and then-

"Luca, come out for breakfast!" Called an excited voice past her oak wood door.

The young hacker's fingers stopped in mid air and she gave out a low growl, hunching her shoulders down farther then they had been for a week.  She didn't have time for Madelyn now. Day after day, begging her to come out.

"No." She answered flatly, fixing her attention back onto the laptop. There was some murmuring outside the door and Madelyn's voice called out to her again. "C'mon Luca, breakfast outside of your room won't kill ya!"

"No."

"Stop being a grouch Luca. Get your ass out here." Called Lilith, her voice flat but slightly playful. Lilith had never been really one for chat, and mostly anything that she or Luca talked about ended up in a full scale argument that, when one of the two were in a bad mood, could cause the involvement of knives and other sharp weapons.

Luca groaned, muttering a long string of curses. She was too busy for this. Food was for the weak. She could spend another week living off of close to expired pop-tarts (was it even possible for pop-tarts to expire in her lifetime?)  when she sighed. There was no doubt that if she didn't come out for another few weeks, both Lilith and Madelyn would go snooping. They were already getting worried enough as it is (and for good reason).

"Fine." She grumbled, letting her chair tip back a bit as she stood up stiffly, wobbling a little from all of the sleepless hours she had been sitting there, and unlocked her door, slamming it behind her. "What." She said glaring at her two most annoying-at-the-moment friends. Lilith was eating some Cheerios on one of the two stools in front of the counter. She froze with surprise as she saw Luca standing there as if she had seen her sprout a second head, her spoon hovering right in front of her lips. Madelyn jumped up from her spot on the couch, a smile on her face. "Breakfast!" She chirped as she skipped to the kitchen where two pieces of bread were being toasted, the other two already buttered and ready to be eaten.

Luca's eyes turned to Lilith, who's spoon still hovering in front of her lips. When she noticed the "what?" stare that Luca was giving her, she shrugged looking away with a slight grin and shoved the cereal into her mouth.

"Nice job Mad." She said with a smile that reached up to her silver eyes that, could sometimes in the right lighting, have a glint of gold.

Madelyn waved away the praise as she buttered the steaming toast and set it right in front of Luca, who eagerly sat on the stool next to Lilith's. The smell of melted butter on toast had overwhelmed Luca's sense to run back to her room and finish her hacking as she took a bite. Lilith, now finished with her serial, got up from her seat, her giant wings stretching and almost hitting Chara who was now taking Lilith's spot next to Luca. "I'll be in my room if any of you need me." Lilith called as she carefully placed her now empty bowl in the dishwasher and headed to the door across the room, letting her long, curly hair, the bottom part a deep purple, the top, her natural hair color, jet black.

"K." Chara said as she took a bite of toast and gave a relaxed sigh as she crossed her legs, adjusting her icy blue dress. "So how's my cinnamon roll been doing these days?"

Luca choked down the protest of the name and gave her a chilling stare instead that made Chara go wide eyed. "Fine. I'm just busy."

"With what?"

"Stuff." Luca answered, carrying her plate up to the counter and making her way back to her room. She didn't look back as she closed the door to it, turned the lock, and sat back down in front of the glowing computer, her hands positioned on the keyboard once again.
