The Night Before

Chapter 2: The Friend

Lena Luthor was sitting at her desk at L-Corp as she would usually do but she had not realised how long she was there as she looked up to see a hint of sunrise and looked to see what time it was.

"Dammit I did it again I need to sleep I never get any sleep anymore because all I ever do is work. " The youngest Luthor was working on a new project as she usually was only this time she stayed up all night as she occasionally did when stressed.

She was so stressed she hadn't even heard the faint knock of her assistant Jess on her door until Jess was right in front of her.

"Ms.Luthor you really should go home and get some rest you wanted me to remind you that you were having lunch with Ms. Danvers today and to let you know if you look tired and you look exhausted. " Jess just also happens to be one of Lena's closest friends but prefers to keep their work relationship professional.

"Thank you Jess I'm not leaving however I will take a small nap on the couch so if you could wake me up around 12 that would be very appreciated. " Lena loved the way Jess always worried about her but she still couldn't help but be a little annoyed that she was always saying that Lena worked to much.

Lena laid down on the couch and slowly drifted off into a deep sleep.

Later that day at 12:

"Lena Lena wake up sleepy. Time to get ready lunch with Kara is in an hour. " At the mention of Kara and lunch the Luthor sat straight up barely leaving Jess enough time to move so they didn't collide.

"Sorry Jess I just was having a weird dream. Kara was there and we were flying almost as if she were Supergirl but it was Kara she was wearing her glasses and her hair up and oh my god she looked so beautiful in the light of the setting sun. I mean she always looks beautiful but she looked especially beautiful. " Lena has had a crush on Kara as long as Kara has had on her. She swore the day she saw her that she one day would marry that woman.

"W-wow ok that's ummm... " Jess didn't continue out of respect for her friend because she was always saying how much she liked Kara.

"Ok time to go Jess I need to get cleaned up. "

At CatCo:

Kara was sitting at her desk watching the clock as it turned to 12:55 she knew she needed to pick up lunch but she had super speed so she could literally do it in like 1 minute and still be early meeting Lena.

She did however figure she would leave now since she also wanted to get a gift for someone special to give them on new years eve hopefully before she kissed her.

Kara stopped at Lenas favorite store to get her a necklace with her family symbol engraved in it as well as something Lena once told her. "Kara Danvers you are my hero."Not only was she going to tell Lena how much she liked her but she was also going to tell her that she was Supergirl and that she didn't care what her family did she loved Lena and nothing could ruin how she was feeling right now.

She gets the necklace and flies off to Big Belly Burger. She lands in Lenas office with 2 mins to spare so she decides to walk to Lenas office rather than using her super speed like usual. She knocks on Lenas office door and hears the woman say come in so she does.

As Kara enters the room she is met with the beautiful brunette and her piercing green eyes that reminded Kara of emeralds.

Kara looks at her and smiles which causes butterflies in Lenas stomach but a good kind. She loved Kara so much and planned on asking her to go out with her on new years eve she even planned it in fireworks.

"Hey it's so good to see you let's go sit on the balcony and eat it is far to nice a day to not take advantage of it. " Lena says leading the Kryptonian out side.

"So what did you bring me? I know you know what a health freak I am. " Lena said in a teasing tone.

"I'm pretty healthy... " Kara mumbled under her breath but little did she know Lena could make out what she said.

Lena and Kara spend the afternoon talking about work and their plans for the next few days when Kara pops the question,

"So Kara what are you doing for new years eve? " Asks Lena so she can invite her friend to watch fireworks.

"Oh probably just going to sit at home alone and watch the count down on t.v..." She was interrupted by Lena.

"No absolutely not come here and we can watch the fireworks from the balcony I was actually going to ask if you wanted to come here anyway so it just works. " Lena seemed really exited about spending new years with Kara she knew it had been too long since her and Kara last hung out.

"It's a date, " Kara says excitedly, " I will be here around 5 so we can go hang out and get dinner first. " Lena was so exited to see her crush react this way.
