"Ah geez, I'm sorry!" I yelped, as someone nearly bumped into me.

This is my first day at UA, and it was going not so great. I was kind of nervous, as this is the first time since I was five that I actually went outside of the small town I lived in. There were just so many people, that I felt like a leaf blown into a crazy river, just tossing around in the current. Honestly, I felt so intimidated by the crowd, I wanted to just hide back into my bed at home and never come out, but this was my big day. The day I get to show people that Y/N is here!

People (and animals, half animal-humans, alien, half alien-humans, etc) were nervously running and walking to classes, while others were laughing and joking with one another. Many people, like me, looked nervous on their first-day debut in UA. I felt relieved that I wasn't the only one extremely scared.

"1-A, 1-A, 1-A," I muttered as I scanned the signs on the doors. "Oh! There it is!" I saw an extremely large door with the words "1-A" on it.

Even the door is intimidating, I thought to myself, just what does UA have to offer?

I reached for the handle, my nervous feelings escalating. My palms felt sweaty as I opened the door.

The class was filled with many different people. I rushed over to my seat, my head down.

"Hello," someone said. I looked up and saw a black-haired girl with shiny eyes. "Name's Momo Yaoyorozu. What's yours?"

"Y/N," I said, relieved that I might get a friend, "I don't know my last name though."

"Huh," Momo looked intrigued, but continued, "that's a cute name! Do your parents not have a last name or something?"

I must've looked mad, because she sighed, "sorry Y/N, that's pretty rude to ask."

"No no!" I said quickly, afraid I'll lose the first friend I've made here, "my parents are dead, so I don't know their last name, but my guardian said that I can choose my last name whenever I wanted to."

Suddenly, I felt nervous again. What if Momo thought that I exposed myself too much? Would I look naive?

"Sorry, Y/N," Momo said, "I never knew that's what it's like for you."

"It's fine," I said, shrugging, "if I never knew my parents, I don't feel any remorse at their deaths. Honestly, I don't even know if that's a good thing, but I can't feel sorry if I don't remember."

Before she could respond, the door opened. I saw a boy walk in, and he had similar hair like mine; red and white, although I only had a mixed version of both colors. Also, he was taller than me, and he shared the same grey and turquoise eyes as me.

We locked eyes and I had the feeling we shared the same thought; am I looking into a genderbending mirror?

Maybe we were, but before I can say anything, a yellow sleeping bag rolled into the room.

I was thinking about what probably everyone else was when we saw it, a caterpillar?

The sleeping bag stood up and faced us. There was a black-haired man who looked like he hadn't slept in ages in there. "Hello class," he intoned, "we'll be doing a special test, and if you're last, you'll be expelled."

After that whole fake-expulsion test, we changed and headed back to our seats. Once again, I noticed how the boy who looked like me had a similar quirk to mine. We were both staring at each other, taking up some of the space in the hallway. "Um," I said, breaking the silence at last, "what's your name?"

"My name is Shouto Todoroki," he responded, "and why do you look like me?"

"I don't know, Todoroki," I responded, "eh, can I call you that?" I received a brief nod from him before I continued, "I thought that maybe I was looking through a mirror. Do you have any siblings?"
