"Y/n, we.... we have to let you go."

E/c eyes blinking in disbelief, you averted your eyes from your manager to the lemon colored tile floor beneath you as your white high topped converse became the main attraction of your attention. Feeling anxiety rise in your chest as your heart fluttered and flip flopped in your chest, the manager of the diner you worked for continued to deliver the bad news to you.

"It wasn't my choice, but you've just had too many incidences on the job... too much money's been lost... I'm so sorry."

Teeth digging into your lip you nodded, your hands reaching backwards to untie the apron around your waist. Leaving your collection of pens and your notepad inside, having already pocketed your tips from your current shift, you handed it over to the young man before you. He was only a few years older than you, being a student at the local university, but his mother had passed the responsibilities of her diner onto him. And after hearing his words, you knew the order came from her, making it final and your job effectively gone.

You felt his hand brush yours as he gingerly took the item from your hand, but you refused to lift your eyes to meet his. This was the third job in two months you had been fired from for the same reason and seeing as your parents had left you and your older brother alone so that you could attend your dream school, you could not afford to be unemployed. After turning away from your former boss, you kept your head hung as you headed into the back room, fighting back the stinging tears in your eyes as you reached the office where everyone hung their coats and put their purses. Reaching the room and grabbing your bag, you slung it over your shoulder and attempted to walk out, being stopped by a taller male with spiky blonde hair.

"The fuck are you going?" He growled, his apron still tied tightly around his waist as his white teeth were bared, his eyebrows tightly furrowed and crimson gaze cast upon your face.

You kept your face hidden as you turned it away from the male, your hair quickly becoming a curtain between you both as he grunted and took a step forward.

"What are you deaf now too?" Said male questioned, a raspiness in his voice that despite being his friend for nearly ten years now, still caught you off guard sometimes.

"Home," you answered weakly, adjusting your backpack straps as you made an attempt to walk past him, one that was easily thwarted.

"For what? Your shifts not over for another hour, and you've got me all the way fucked up if you think I'm taking your tables."

"I got fired, Bakugou," you informed the male in front of you, finally lifting your head to reveal the smudged mascara beneath your watery e/c eyes as you gazed up at him. Eyebrows furrowed at his prying, you stood unwavering while his face softened and he clicked his teeth.

"It was that old hag I bet," he grumbled, turning his head to peer over his shoulder for your shared boss's son, baring his teeth again as he crossed his arms. "Her son is such a pussy. She literally gave him this run down fucking hole in the wall, and he still won't make any decisions for himself." He shook his head with a distasteful grunt as you shifted uncomfortably in front of him, his taller and larger frame still blocking your one and only exit out of the office.

"Yeah, well either way I got fired and I'd like to go home." Your had meant to sass Bakugou, but your flushed cheeks, teary eyes and wavering voice caused his gaze to return to your face and soften, unsure of what to do to comfort you.

"Yeah well.... don't fucking fall asleep cause I'm coming over after my shift," he demanded, moving out of the way as you huffed in response, telling him not to count on it. Staying silent and watching your small frame retreat out of the back door of the kitchen, he spoke up and halted your steps. "Hey, didn't you say it was today?"
