"Hello, Dear."
Mr. Domner spread a huge smile onto his wrinkled and aged face, as I walked into the coffee shop and sat at my usual spot. "Hey, Jeff, today can I get a strawberry scone instead of my usual?"
"Of course dear. Do you want tea or coffee?"
"Tea," I replied.
Mr. Domner left the room and came back with two scones instead of one.
"Take one home for your mother", he said.
"Are you sure? It's almost rush hour. There might be people coming through wanting one of the best scones in town."
"Strawberry scones aren't much of a big demand these days. Go on, bring one home for your mother."
I grabbed the box of scones and my cup of tea. Mr. Domner gave me a hug and said goodbye as I left the shop.

When I got home, Mother was asleep in her bed. I put the box of scones on the kitchen counter and just as I was about to go into my room, I saw an envelope on the table. I picked it up and realized it was addressed to me. I sat on the sunken couch and opened up the envelope. Inside was a piece of notebook paper. It said:
Harlo meet me on the second story of the library tomorrow at 6 pm. I have to tell you something important.
After I read the letter I sat in confusion. Who could this be? There was no name or address for who it was sent from on the envelope. The person who wrote this must have put it in our mailbox themselves.
I thought about the letter that night. Someone needed to tell me something important. After what seemed like forever, I decided I was going to go.
