Percy's smiled weakly as he manages to pull himself onto a ledge. He licked his chapped lips, even though it did nothing to moisturise his lips. Finally, he laid down on the ledge, looking up into the dark sky above. I can escape.
To Percy, it's been an endless amount of time since he was banished to Tartarus for being a 'threat' to Olympus and the gods. His father, Poseidon and a bunch of other gods had tried to help him, but Zeus was adamant in his decision, and banished the Saviour of Olympus anyway.
No, after what seemed like months of climbing and walking, Percy had reached the Doors of Death.
He stood up, legs shaking, and walked towards the bronze doors. I could see the sun and stars again... Percy thought with a hopeful smile.
He studied the doors, trying to find a way to open them and return to the mortal world, but they were locked. Percy scowled and screamed. A scream of anguish, and pain. So close. So damn close. Percy punched the doors, hard. He ignored the throbbing pain of his fist and started throwing punches at the doors.

I may grant you access, but be warned, the world isn't what it was." Percy laughed. "I just want to see my father, my mom, or even Annabeth again."
Thanatos sighed. "As you wish." The doors made a clicking sound as they unlocked. "I shall hold the button. This shall be my final deed before I fade."
The took Percy by surprise. "Fade? You're the god of death. As long as there is death, you will be needed. How can you fade now?" Thanatos laughed mirthlessly. "That is my point. The Greek Pantheon is weakening. Soon, we shall fade, and you will be the only legacy of Olympus."
Percy blinked. "What happened up there?" He asked, his thirst and hunger suddenly gone as his attention all shifted to the god before him. Thanatos shook his head. "You'll have to see for yourself." He motioned for Percy to enter the doors. "Remember to hold down the button on your side until you reach the surface." Thanatos paused and took a deep breath. "And remember the Great Prophecy." With that Thanatos closed the doors.
Percy immediately rushed over to the button and held it down gingerly. What has happened up there? Gods...
