Cadet Stark sat at his chair, his hat pulled down over his eyes. He lightly snored as his chest slowly raised up and down. He's been
sitting at his chair for the past seven hours. He's been sleeping for six and a half of those. His camo hat complimented the rest of his clothing very nicely. Camo pants and jacket were the only visible articles of clothing he was wearing besides his hat. His arms were crossed over his chest. Splayed in front of him was his desk full of random radars, screens, and nonsense sticky notes.
A light started blinking red next to one of the radars. It made a quiet blip noise. Cadet Stark didn't wake up. In fact, the light continued to blink and the noise continued to go on and off until one of the radars showed a red circle enter the area. The blip noise became louder and the blinking became quicker and brighter. Cadet Starks' eyes started to flutter open. He yawned and stretched his arms above his head as his eyes adjusted to the blinking red light.
Stark squinted when he finally saw the red light fully. He realized what it meant and stiffened his back. He wiped the tiredness from his eyes and called to the other room where General Rogers was. "Sir! We have a code red!" Rogers rushed into the room.
"This blinking and blipping are incredibly fast and loud which means that this has been going on for a while! Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Rogers yelled with urgency in his voice.
Knowing full well that the truth would get him fired, Stark said, "It just appeared."
Rogers looked at him dumbfoundedly. "Just appeared?"
"Yessir." Stark reassured.
Rogers turned back to the radar. He scanned the top of it for the type of radar. "This is the most advanced radar to ever exist. It scans out for 100,000 miles." He pointed to the red circle on the radar. It was halfway between the edge of the radar and the center of it. "If this-thing just appeared out of nowhere, we're talking speeds of unmeasurable rates!" To emphasize his point, the general pointed again at the radar where the red dot was. It was now halfway between the center of the radar and where it just previously was.
Just then, the ground started shaking slightly. Everything started shaking slightly. The shaking grew more violent as the red dot got closer and closer to the center of the radar. Drinks fell off of Stark's table and spilled onto the floor. His keyboard came unplugged and tipped over the edge of the table and it broke in to hundreds of pieces. Stark fell out of his chair and Rogers fell to his side. Then, it started to slow down. Things started to no longer shake. Stark looked at the radar and saw the red dot going in the same direction it was traveling before, but now it was headed away from the military base in the center. Rogers and Stark stared at the radar until the dot disappeared.
"What happened to it?" Stark asked after a moment.
"Well, it either crashed or it teleported away." Rogers said as he got back up. "I hope it was the first one."
"You want that UFO to still be on our planet?" Stark asked in disbelief.
"No." Rogers admitted. "But the other option means that aliens-or whatever that thing was-are advanced enough to teleport." Rogers started to walk out of the room.
"Where are you going?" Stark asked while getting up onto his knees.
"I'm going to put together a team to investigate." Rogers explained.
Stark looked over his shoulder to where they had last seen the dot on the radar; about 60,000 miles away.
