"I do like this look, by the way." He winks, pointing to my ensemble from his spot against the door frame.
"Niall!" I roll my eyes at him as he laughs.
"A'right, i'm going now before you throw something at me." He says, still laughing at his joke as he starts down the stairs.
I can't help but smile as I go back into the bathroom to change. I pull on Niall's joggers and t-shirt that fit in that perfectly oversized way and they couldn't be more comfortable, but i'm not sure if it's because they are really that comfortable or just because they are his. Probably the latter.
I brush out my wet hair to let it air dry. As I turn to leave the bathroom I catch a glimpse in the mirror of some writing on the back of my shirt —or rather, Niall's shirt.
I chuckle at the realization that he's given me a t-shirt that says 'Horan 93' on the back.
I walk down stairs and see him turning on the electric fireplace. Almost all of the lights are off downstairs, leaving only a lamp in the corner and the fireplace to provide a warm glow of light. I can't help but notice Niall humming to himself while he makes sure the fireplace is just the right temperature.
"Food smells amazing." I speak up, alerting him of my presence. A smile covering my face as he smiles and walks to me.
"Not half as good as you do." He says, taking in a deep breath of freshly showered scent when he nuzzles his face into my neck which drives me crazy in all the good ways every time he does it.
"So cheesy..." I laugh.
"Maybe..." He shrugs. "But it's true."
"Well you should like the smell of it, I used your body wash!" I say laughing as I flop onto the deep couch, Niall following my actions and laughing as well.
"Well it smells better on you." He jokes.
We settle into the couch to eat our dinner and as soon as we're done I switch to laying on my side with my head in Niall's lap while we watch the TV.
He's playing with my hair which is incredibly relaxing and exactly what I needed after a day of traveling. However, suddenly he sweeps all of my locks over my shoulder and stops.
"What?" He asks when I slightly glance back at him in silent wondering as to why he's stopped playing with my hair because it felt so good.
"You stopped." I shrug.
"Oh..." He blushes. "Sorry, was just thinking..." He says, returning to the soothing feeling of his fingers combing through my hair, twisting and looping it around his fingers.
"Bout what?" I ask, wedging my hands under my cheek that's resting on his knee.
He's silent for a second and I wonder if maybe i've stepped too far. Maybe he doesn't want to talk about it...
Just because you're staying in his house doesn't mean you need to know every though that crosses his mind, Evie.
I'm mentally scolding myself and frantically looking for a way to back-track on my statement when he finally speaks again.
"Just thinking this looks really good on you..." He says quietly.
"What?" I ask, rolling back to look at him over my shoulder and see him looking down at the shirt covering my body. "Oh, yeah. The clothes fit nicely. Very comfy... Very convenient we're about the same size, mister." I giggle.
"No...I meant..." He pauses, eyes still fixed on the shirt instead of my face. "This..." He says, running his finger across my shoulder blades where his surname is spelled out. A slight shiver covers my body at his touch.
Oh.
"The shirt or the name?" I ask quietly for clarity once I've regained my breath. I roll fully onto my back to look up at his face and those gorgeous features of his that I love all the more with every passing second.
"The shirt suites you too...but, take it how you like it." He winks, brushing hair around my face. "Like you said...fits nicely."
I smile up at him, nodding once in subtle agreement with his words and my heart melts.
