Jennifer and Ryan had washed up on the shore of an unknown island. They had been on a massive cruise ship headed for the the Bahamas, when, a storm decided to make itself known. It rocked the ship, making violent waves in the sea, which slammed with such force into the sides of it. The people swayed back and forth, some even going overboard. Ryan and Jennifer held on to the metal pole in the middle of the boat, with the other hand grasping on to each other. They began praying for the storm to cease but that only seemed to make things worse. The rain had turned to hail and lightning bolt after lightening bolt had struck the ship in several places, causing giant holes to form in the floor. It slowly started to fill with water until the storm swallowed the ship and everyone within it whole.
Ryan gasped for breath as he coughed up water. His lungs burned but he forced himself to breathe. He couldn't leave his newly wed wife all alone on this planet. He looked around, panicking when he saw her still body lying just a few feet from him. He crawled to her body, shaking her in the hopes that she would awake. Nothing. He began administering CPR and she started to sputter, puking up her guts.
"Oh, Jenny, you're all right. I was beginning to think... you were dead."
Jennifer looked around, dazed. She had no idea were she was. All she remembered was being on a cruise ship, eager to await her honeymoon.
"Ryan, where are we?"
"I-I don't know."
"What happened to the ship? To all the people?"
Ryan looked around. There were no signs of the wreckage of their ship. He could recall the mass chaos as the storm raged on. He remembered lightning striking it, causing it to flood.
The people must have drowned. How in the world did the two of us survive?
"Ryan, what happened to the ship?" She repeated.
"It sank," He whispered.
"And the people?"
He looked away. "They drowned."
Jennifer's eyes began to well up with tears. "That can't be. There must be-" She stopped mid-sentence when she saw a big, waterlogged suitcase.
"Ryan, someone else washed up on shore. That's someone's suitcase," She said, pointing at it.
He looked skeptical at it.
There's no way anyone else could have survived.
"Open it, Ryan."
Ryan crawled to it, unzipping it slowly and carefully. For all he knew, there could be a bomb in there.
"What's in there?"
He slowly lifted the first few items out of the bag; raw broccoli and carrots, two apples, cocoa beans, and a jar of dried crickets.
"Gah," Ryan shouted, dropping the jar on the sand and wiping his hands on his drenched shorts.
"What is it?" Jennifer asked, walking on wobbly legs towards him.
"A-A jar of crickets."
Jennifer licked her lips hungrily. "I wonder if they are sun dried with sea salt?" She asked, picking up the jar.
Ryan face had turned a shade of green. "Y-You like crickets?"
"Absolutely. They are a great source of protein. My mother would always make them for me when I was a little girl."
She opened the jar and began to chow down, acting as if they were a crunchy bag of potato chips. She offered him the jar. "You want some?"
"No thanks. I think I'll just stick to some normal food."
