"Thank you." I say to her, but keep my gaze on Niall.
"We'd love to chat some more, but we've got a busy last festival day ahead of us." I add, looking back to the screen.
"Of course! We'll catch up soon. Love you!" Mom says.
"Love you too! Bye dad, bye Emma!" I call to them as Niall waves next to me.
"Talk soon." Niall says with a smile.
I hang up and look over at Niall with a smirk etched onto my face.
"You're adorable you know that?" I ask.
"What for?" He laughs.
"You just are." I shrug, pecking him quickly on the cheek.
"You were so sweet to them. And you're so happy to tell the world about us, and you're so excited to talk to my parents and get to know them, and.... I just love you." I rattle off, resting my hand on his cheek.
"Well all of those things are true, but I'm not half as adorable as you are." He says, poking my nose.
"Well i'll be a whole lot cuter, once i've showered and gotten ready for the day." I joke. "Then we get to go have that breakfast you promised me yesterday." I say, as I hop of the couch and prance around the living room towards my bedroom.
"I'm starved!" Niall says dramatically.
"I won't be long! Make yourself at home. I have the golf channel." I wave behind me, laughing at him as I disappear down the hall.
"I knew I loved you." He yells back, and while I know he's joking around right now I also am beginning to believe that he really does love me and that makes me smile all the wider.
An hour later, we pull up to my favorite brunch spot and we walk hand in hand towards the door. I feel a bit like we should be sneaking around, but it's nice to know we don't have to anymore.
We're seated faster than I've ever been sat here before, and at a very nice spot outside on the patio.
We peruse the menu, Niall ordering an omelet with toast and bacon and me ordering my signature french toast.
My dad used to make french toast every Saturday for my sisters and I, and for every birthday, holiday, or special occasion in between.
It might sound weird, but even to this day, whenever something big happens in my life —I have to have french toast. It's tradition.
Today is definitely a french toast day.
I let Niall in on this little tradition of mine and he smiles, finding out one more little piece of me.
