He took her hand and his eyes told her the words that his lips couldn't form no matter how hard he tried.
(Please don't go.)
But she only brought his hand up to those oh so soft lips and kissed their intertwined hands and whispered in a voice so soft that it felt like dream. I have to, we made a promise to him.
And he remembered that boy.
That boy who had stood by their side until the very end.
That boy who had kept them together.
That boy who had stood by their side through the darkest times.
That boy who had kept them sane.
Oh, that boy with those golden brown eyes with so many unspoken words.
That boy who had been their fire.
That boy who had shown them what it feels like to have a home.
That boy who had shown them that actions speak louder than words.
That boy who had nurtured and protected them.
That boy who had mended every single wound, both the emotional and the physical.
That boy who taught them to trust.
That boy who never judged them and always saw them as who they were.
That boy that had been the light that always guided them home.
That boy who became the bond that kept them together till this day.
That boy that loved them so much, so unconditionally, that they could feel the echo of it till now and forever.
And then he realized that as much as it hurt. He had to let her go.
So with the brightest smile that he could muster. He gave her a nod.
And as he slowly broke inside he let go of her hand and read the words in her eyes and wished that they would be true.
(I'll be back before you know it, I love you, I'm sorry.)
And she leaned forward and kissed his cheek and whispered
So softly in his ears that he couldn't help but think that he dreamt it.
I'm sorry
And then she turned around and walked away.
And as he saw her silhouette slowly disappear from his sight he realized that with every step she took away from him.
That she was his friend
His sister.
His best friend.
His twin.
His second half.
His heart.
His fire.
His fire heart.
And when the last of her silhouette disappeared into the darkness. He felt how his heart began to shatter and how no matter how hard he tried to hold it in.
As the first raindrops fell from the sky.
He slowly sunk down onto his knees and let go.
Of all the feelings that suddenly surged up.
And as he knelt there and screamed until his throat was hoarse and he no longer could let out a single syllable and as his tears blended in with the rain.
With every teardrop that fell, as did all of the unspoken words of his heart. That he oh, so wished he had told her before she left and took with her every single color from his world.
And now as he stood up with the weight of the whole world resting upon his shoulders he put one foot in front of the other and walked away, into his monochrome world. Longing for her warmth.
