On a average Saturday afternoon shared with his family as their designated day to watch something together. The small family gathering to their cozy apartment living room. The city that never sleeps still bustling on outside their still apartment building. Marcus sat on the couch until all he could hear outside was a faint whine like a dog whistle then blinding white. The only sounds he could hear surrounding him was the sounds of police sirens and firefighters. The commotion of people searching through the building was ringing and echoing throughout Marcus's ears. His eyes slightly opened as a firefighter trying to find survivors in the collapsing building.

"We found another one!" The masked firefighter said through his walkie before moving the building's debris that had pummeled Marcus after the explosion.

Marcus couldn't feel anything but I the smoke and dust in the air filling his lungs. His eyes fought to stay open but lost to his mind deeming it too painful. A loud burst of sirens and people yelling and talking surrounded him from every direction drowning out his thoughts. His unconscious body was bumped as he was loaded into the wailing ambulance. Marcus forced himself to try to open his eyes again to see what's going on. His vision was hazy and all he could see was the blurry view of the female paramedic who took him into the ambulance. The paramedic took a mask from the side of the ambulance to get the toxic air out of his lungs. All that Marcus could think about was his parents. Attempting to speak ended up in Marcus mumbling something that the paramedic couldn't understand.

"You'll be alright, I've got you. We'll be at the hospital in no time." The paramedic spoke softly trying to get Marcus to relax.

Within the next few minutes, The fleet of ambulance reached the Brooklyn hospital. This was the only hospital for thousands of miles. It was in the inner ring of NewYork was most of Brooklyn and the statue of liberty. The government decided it wasn't necessary to have hospitals for people who couldn't afford it.  The heads decided it would help with overpopulation which was the worst and most evil sort of thing anyone could have said. With the arrival to the hospital, Marcus was pulled out of the Back of the ambulance as many other pulled into the emergency lot to drop off people injured in the explosion. Still, having no idea what happened in the building Marcus remained clueless about the entire situation until the morning.
