Streaking stars cackle at the earth, slashing flat-line pavement into a cracked smile. Thunder roars as rain hisses and strikes down. A child's voice wails for Mother to stay - no avail.

Mother treads in moonlight, sloshing in her black boots as her coat weeps. She promises not to step on the side-walk crack, but her child pleads for her to return again. As Mother bolts to aid her distressed child, she unknowingly steps on that gloomy crack. Booming heavens open up to scream like crows howl at the dead. Mother knows she can never come back.

Child's eyes dart back and forth as brain waves storm like a monsoon. The bed twitches - REM releases subconscious undoing. The child jolts out of sleep and uncontrollably sobs. Mother rushes to her child's cry.

Wake up, dear child. You are safe.
