It was a rather cold morning in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. The normal old Detective Jones sat at his desk, reading over some closed cases, before his phone rang,

"Hello? Oh.. Yes, of course.. a body you said? I'm on the case ma'am, thank you." The call was ended quickly, and Detective Jones phoned the forensic scientist to head to the crime scene. Once everyone arrived, Jones went right on to searching for clues. The crime scene area contained a car that was thought to be the brother's car, but there was another car, with a broken window. The other detectives and officers went to investigate inside and question the brother about the body, while Jones examined the outer areas, he found a few footprints, leading to a broken window. Out of curiosity, Jones crept closer until the smell hit him, the smell of fecal matter and rotting flesh. He knew instantly that someone had been dead for a while, since the smell was incredibly foul. He shook his head and walked inside, watching the other officers leave where the room was, attempting to find the rotting smell. Jones heard two people speaking to each other, one with a higher voice, and the other with a more mature voice, he was already on edge at the sight of the smashed in car window, since most car windows are pretty sturdy, he then heard some screaming and pressed his ear up against the door, not thinking about busting the door down. The other officers rushed to the door and kicked it down, leaving Jones there in shock, there was a new body, it was fresh too. Jones entered the room and nearly vomited at the strong smell.

"Eugh.. how disgusting.. there's likely maggots crawling all over that ones body." Officer Moore pointed to the female body and looked over to the fresh body, which was still seeping out blood. Jones pushed everyone aside and slipped on some latex gloves before flipping the younger Male's body over, it seemed to have a knife plunged into the chest, and Jones had gagged at the smell of the older body's aura.

"Could we open another door? This murder has gotten a lot smellier, you know what I'm sayin'?" Jones faked a chuckle and continued examining the bodies, before long, three hours had already passed and all the evidence had to be taken to the lab, to be examined of course. But Jones wouldn't stop there, he continued to investigate, making sure no more evidence was left behind. The other officers were long gone, but Jones stayed there, before finding a phone hidden under the car's --the one that was broken into-- driver's seat, it was.. quite a new phone, but of course, it couldn't be touched until it had been taken in for evidence, luckily Jones already had his latex gloves on and he picked it up carefully, now he had to call one of his detective buddies to pick him up. Gosh, silly him. Soon enough another detective named Detective Cantell picked up the rather lonely Male and took him to the police department, so he could hand in the evidence and go home to drink and see his son again. Once all was said and done, Jones did the exact thing, bought a six pack and drank half the box, while having a conversation with his twelve-year-old son.

Before long, the sun rose, along with a hungover father and young boy, and the day progressed. Jones sat at his desk, examining some of the photos that were inside the Evans siblings' case file, he pieced together each clue, and but his bottom lip, he officially had a suspect, but now he had to find them. So, he grabbed his keys, and left the police station, heading towards the suspect's location, and moved the gear to park before taking the keys from the ignition, and stepping out of the car. He walked up the stairs and onto the porch, gently knocking on the door,

"Anyone home?"

He knocked and rang the doorbell,

"Open up, it's the PFPD."

Still, no answer. By now, Jones was growing impatient, if there was a car here, someone must've been home, right? He shook his head and rang the doorbell, and FINALLY a young woman hesitantly opened the door,

"Hello?"

"Hello ma'am. Is..." Jones checked a small slip of paper with the suspect's name and address written on, "Lukas Numëro here?"

The women's gaze led to a man who was sitting on a couch, reading a book,

"Perfect, thank you ma'am. Uh, may I come in and speak to him?" Jones showed the woman his badge and was welcomed inside, the other Male saw Jones and froze, faking a smile,

"Can I help you officer?"

"Yes. I'm Detective Jones, and I'm working on a case of Carmen Evan's, could you answer a few questions of mine?"

"Uhh.. yeah.."

Jones smiled and pulled out a small notebook from his pocket, as well as a pen from his shirt pocket,

"Now, what's your relationship with Carmen?"

"We're exes.. she cheated, and I got angry at her."

"But you wouldn't say you'd.. murder her, right?"

"What?! Murder her? I would never do such a thing! Why? Is she dead?"

Jones nodded and wrote something down.

A few hours went by, and it was 12:32 am, Jones apologized for staying so late and eventually drove home, but he had an uneasy feeling he was being watched, and/or followed. He shook it off and quickly went inside, locking the door, and walked towards the couch, flopping down on it and falling asleep, not even acknowledging his son, who made him a good dinner.

The next morning when Jones decided to wake his sleeping son, Dallas, he felt uneasy and flicked on the light, Dallas was in his bed, the white bedsheets covered in what seemed to be the boy's blood, Jones fell to his knees and started sobbing, holding his lifeless son's body tightly in his arms,

"No nononnononoonononononono... Dallas.. c'mon... wake up..."

He was now laying on the floor, in a puddle of tears, why would this happen? He felt so much grief and decided to chase down the despair with beer, and which he did, before long, he called his boss and told them about his son, and a new case progressed. Jones sat in his seat a few days later, and listened to one of his colleagues talk about their son's 15th birthday.

"Lucky you.." Jones mumbled, wiping a tear from his sleep-deprived eyes.
