🌹 Rose's POV 🌹

I've been sitting in my room for at least 2 hours just crying. Why? Because my mom wants to move to Los Angeles.

I understand that other people would find this exiting. And I do too. The thing is, that my grandpa is dying of cancer here in Minnesota. And I don't wanna leave him.

"Rose, would you mind coming down here?"

I run down the stairs as fast as I can to my grandpa.

"You know I'm gonna die soon-"

"Don't say that!" I feel warm tears on my face. He reaches out to dry them.

"You know it's gonna happen. I want you to go and pursue your dreams in Los Angeles, and remember our secret handshake"

"Yes grandpa. I just don't wanna leave you here. I mean, with what happened all those years ago, I don't want you to relive the memory" I say looking down.

"Yeah yeah your grandma left me for some hot surfer guy when we were 25, and so what? I had Melissa and George with her, it's okay for you to leave."

"Can't I just stay with you?" I start crying even more at the thought of leaving.

"It's okay Rose, don't worry about me. Just focus on your grades and remember to never let yourself be broken"

"Yes grandpa" I feel more tears coming, but blink them back.

"Father have you seen Rose?" its mom.

I run up the stairs and remember to slam the door. I slowly walk over to the door and listen to them.

"I just want what's best for her" she's crying...

"Honey she'll understand"

Understand.... what?

"I just need her safe"

Okay, what is going on.

"I changed my mind" I say as I walk down the stairs and hug my grandpa.

"Wh-what made you change your mind?" my mom asks.

I shrug and start packing everything down. As I finish packing, I realize that my rose is gone.

I search for it everywhere, but with no luck. That rose, it- it meant so much to me. I can't believe it's gone...

TIME SKIP TO 2 DAYS LATER (MOVING TIME)

This is it. My last day here in Stillwater.

Bye bye Minnesota, hello long trip to California...

"Bye grandpa, I'll facetime you every day" I say and hug him.

"What the fuck is facetime?" he asks sarcastically, the curse word purely to annoy my mom.

"DAD!" I laugh "Do NOT teach Rose such words, she's too pure!".

This makes the two of us burst out in laughter.

"Yeah AS IF I'm innocent" me and grandpa laugh but my mom gives me a strict look.

"Learn from your elders" I say and wink, as I get into the car. My mom just rolls her eyes and finishes putting our stuff in the car.

A while later we are driving to the airport. My second time moving out of state.

Yeah, I've moved out of state before.

I used to live in Portland Oregon until I turned 10.

I had to leave my best friends Daniel and Jonah because my mom found someone new.

Turns out he was wanted for sexual abuse and child molestation so we had to live with my grandpa.

Now that we're moving to Los Angeles, finding new friends again won't be as easy, since I'm starting my senior year alone...

I sigh and the long trip to California begins.

So I just listen to some music and sleep the entire plane ride.
