Ouch Mar

"Was Remus there?- of course he was there! He's your best friend and Sirius and James's best friend. Did he have his hair messy again? Oh! Was he wearing a sweater?" Mary rambled quickly and wrapped a strand of her brown hair around her finger.

Her blue eyes glancing at me with a small smile etched across her face. Her body was relaxed and the giggles of the rest of the girls could be heard around us.

"Do you have a crush on Remmy, Mary?" I ask the blushing brunette who glances around the small group of girls around her. Our giggles getting louder as she groans and puts her hands over her red cheeks.

"I know, I know! I just stutter when I see him! He's so pretty" Mary moans softly and runs a hand through her straight brown hair.

"Why don't you just have a normal conversation with him? He's in the compartment right now, reading" I suggest with a small smile.

I wanted nothing more than the happiness for both of my friends. If Mary had a crush on Remus. There was a possibility that he could come to trust her and trust himself enough to be in a relationship.

He could be loved if he just let himself.

"Me? Talk to Remus? In front of James and Sirius? God I'd die" Mary groans with a shake of her head and reopens the magazine that was sat in her lap.

"Please tell me you'll at least talk to him this year" Marlene huffs with a playful roll of her eyes and leans back into the cushioned chair of the compartment.

"It's harder than you guys think! I mean I've fancied the arse off of him since fourth year!" She groans and flips through her magazine aggressively.

"You'll rip the pages" I hum with a playful smirk on my lips as I open the blue polish.

"Oh fuck off fawn!"

The great hall was buzzing with life. Children of every age and gender talking rapidly to each other about their past summer and the latest gossip they had heard on the train.

The new Gryffindor first years sat on the table near my small group of friends. Their eyes bright with curiosity and wonder as they took in their surroundings.

I still had that look on my face when I see the castle. When my eyes take in the hundreds of floating candles in the great hall and the roaring fire in the Gryffindor common room.

This was my home

"There's my babygirl!" James hums softly and sits beside me. Ultimately pushing Marlene out of the way who glares fiercely at him and aggressively grabbed her plate pulling it down to where she now sat.

"What do you want James?" I ask and take a bite of my steamed broccoli that was on my fork. His hold on my shoulder tightened and he pulled me closer to his warm body to place a kiss on my temple.

"I don't want anything babydoll. I just wanted to see how my girl was doing. Since I haven't seen her since the train ride" he chuckles and reaches forward grabbing my goblet of pumpkin juice and taking a large gulp of my drink.

That asshole

"James! That was mine!" I pout and set my fork down onto my plate with an irritated glare to the smirking boy. He chuckles and shrugs his shoulder in a 'oh well' gesture.

"What's yours is mine and all that shit" He winks and sets the goblet down onto the wooden table in front of us.

"We aren't married James" I giggle with a roll of my eyes and push his chest playfully. His deep chuckle echoing in my ears as he nuzzles his head into the crook of my neck.

"No you're right. We're not even dating" He hums and quickly moves away from my neck. His head lifting up and glancing at me softly.

His hazel eyes were pretty. The candle light from the ceiling causing a shiver to develop in the hazel depths of his eyes. I could look at them until I was told I wasn't allowed any more. His emotions a whirlpool in his eyes that had me blinking and trying to make sense of them all.

He leaned closer to me. His hands on my waist and his lips parted. His breath fanning against my face and I felt myself freeze.

What the Merlin was happening?

James stopped his movements and smirked. His hazel eyes drifting from my face and to something that was behind me.

I frowned in confusion but also yelled happily to the gods that nothing had happened between James and I.

I didn't want to jeopardise anything between the two of us. I valued him as a friend. He was one of my best friends! I didn't ever want to lose him.

Besides I didn't even like James in that way. He was my friend I could never see him as a lover.

Could I?

"Gotta go babydoll. I want my bit" he winks and slowly lets go off my body and stands up off the bench. My eyes followed his figure and turned around to see him sit down next to a pretty blonde Ravenclaw.

Her cheeks blushed and she giggled at something James had told her. Her hand resting against his uniform covered chest as he leaned closer to her and placed his lips by her ear.

Just like Sirius- James was going to get a sexual disease.

"Fawny baby? What was James saying?" Marlene asks with her eyebrows furrowed and slides back into her original seat.

"He was just being James"
