BEING AN IMMIGRANT GIVES YOU THREE THINGS. A strong sense of cultural pride, resilience, and a desire to live out the long aspired "American Dream".

Francesca Romano was born in Sicily, Italy, out of an affair between a Brazilian doctor working abroad and his Italian assistant. Don't ask her to tell you about the place though, she barely remembered her country of origin, seeing as she moved to the States with her Aunt and Uncle at the tender age of four. While their definition of the "American Dream" was opening up a sandwich shop in the tiny little town of Lima, Ohio, they wanted more for the niece that was more like a daughter to them than anything. Piano lessons, private tutoring, anything that would help her succeed.

She was an introvert from a young age, her nose always stuck in some kind of book. She made it a habit to avoid situations or people who could complicate her life, keeping a close circle of friends.

However after an altercation with a classmate, leading to cyberbullying her freshman year, there are some signs that Francesca was more than just "introverted". Eventually the harassment took such a heavy toll that she had a panic attack in class, prompting her to take a leave of absence from early May to June. During her time away, she was diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder.

She returned her sophomore year and with the encouragement of Miss Pillsbury, joins the Glee club in hopes that the new friends she'd make from it would help her better deal with her anxiety, and while they certainly did, the one in control of her thoughts was Francesca and Francesca only.
