It started as a normal day. I got dressed in my favorite outfit as it was almost my birthday. Just a few more days and I would be 14. Birthday, February 22, the year now, 2003. I went to school, It usually takes me 8 minutes to get to school so I had time to think. Have you ever gotten that feeling that something was going to happen, but you don't know what it was, well that was how I was feeling. Just then I was greeted with my friend.
"Hey," my friend said
"Oh, hey how are," I said looking down
"I'm good, are you ok you seem a little off?" she asked in concerned
"Yes I'm fine you just caught me off guard," I said lying
"Oh ok" she responded
The bell rang we walked inside and got ready for our first class. The day went by so fast I didn't realize until I got to 5th period when in the halls there was humming of some type of music was filling the air. This in itself was concerning as it seemed to be from the loudspeakers and not some kids phone trying to pull a prank or someone humming in general. Not only that It sounded like the old nursery rhyme song, how did go again, oh yea Rock a by the baby in the treetop or something like that? No one paid attention or even cared. Just then there was a voice over the loudspeakers. It spoke with the music in the background very faint.
"LOCKDOWN LOCKDOWN THIS IS NOT A DRILL" The person over the loudspeaker spoke with fear in his voice.
I could hear people screaming, kids were running.  Be reminded that everybody was still walking in the hallways when all this went down. It was chaos I ran into a classroom. I didn't see or hear anybody else. The teacher ran to turn off the lights and locked the door.

We all sat there at least 20 of us. I could hear crying as students buried their faces in their knees. I just sat there in complete shock.
*RING RING*
The 5th bell rang, We sat for 40 minutes. When over the Loudspeaker A voice we didn't recognize started talking.
"When the 6th bell rings it will begin," The man said with such hatred in his voice
Then that's when the real crying began, the clock looked like it was going so slow. I can see in the corner of my eyes people texting their family.
"Calm down students, the police should be here any minute. " The teacher said with worry in her voice knowing that they weren't near because the power connecting to the phones where down.
Knowing that the teacher was freaking out didn't help the situation.  Then I noticed the clock, ten seconds left then the bell would ring.  Everyone else noticed this too.
