Cheryl couldn't believe her eyes. None other than Archie Andrews was being marched out of the schools gymnasium, arms behind his back clad in handcuffs. She looked between Toni and Veronica, a look of surprise on both of their faces. What the hell was going on? Something was wrong!
Later that evening at Thistlehouse, Cheryl threw her stuff onto the counter before turning to Toni.
"I've been a serpent less than 24 hours and you are already keeping things from me!" She exclaimed. Toni turned around, surprised by Cheryl's sudden outburst.
"Babe, what are you talking about?"
"Do the serpents have some kind of secret vendetta against Archie that I don't know about?"
"No, of course not! The serpents hated him, and probably hold that grudge, but not after he helped us the other night. And even if we wanted to get back at Archie for the race, we wouldn't try to throw him in jail."
"Then who would, Toni?! Who has that kind of manipulating power?"
"I don't know, Cher, but why do you care so much anyways? I didn't know you and Archie were such good friends."
Seeing where the conversation was heading, Cheryl decided to let it go. "We're not..."
Toni looked confused, and slightly worried. But suddenly her eyebrows shot up and a smiled formed on her face. "Anyways! I've been waiting all day to ask you something!"
Cheryl smiles at Toni as she made her way around the counter to the fridge. She pulled out Toni's new favorite lunch meat that she had discovered since being with Cheryl: Pastrami. She loved pastrami and provolone sandwiches and Cheryl loved making them for her after school. "Yes, T.T?"
Toni leaned over the counter and put her head in her hands. She gave Cheryl a flirty look. "Uhm, how would you feel about going off with me for the summer?"
Cheryl stopped spreading mayo on the sandwich and suddenly looked up at her new girlfriend. "Doing what now?"
"I was thinking we could finally get you on my motorcycle. Then, we can hit the road. Me and you for three months traveling, living in cheap hotels, eating fast food. Usually I go with Sweet Pea and Fangs every year, but they've got summer school. So, would you want to go?"
"Oh, T.T." As much as the idea displeased Cheryl as a new serpent, she couldn't help but be flattered. Besides, Cheryl could afford nice hotel rooms. "I would love to."
Toni looked stunned, "Wait? Really? You really wanna go?"
"Of course. Three months with mon ange is all I could ever ask for. I want to spend every waking, and sleeping, moment with you, T.T. However, I think I'll bring my own finances, so we can have a nice place to sleep."
"That takes the fun out of it," Toni said with a smile, "but I'll accept anything if it means you'll come."
Cheryl giggled and slid the plate across the counter. "For you, mon amor."

The next day when Cheryl woke, it was with a smile on her face. Her and Toni were having breakfast at Pop's this morning to discuss their summer plans. She stretched and then reached for her phone. She quickly sent a good morning text to Toni, which she promptly signed "xx Cher" like she does every morning. Cheryl decided to avoid social media this morning after everything that happened yesterday at the school assembly.
Cheryl needed to talk to Veronica before her and Toni left. She owed Archie at least that much after he saved her life. So Cheryl threw off her silk comforter and starting getting dressed.
Cheryl strutted into pops, iconic spider broach shimmering and her lips painted red. She turned to the right and saw Toni sitting in their usually spot at the bar. A stack of pancakes for both of them paired with Blossom maple syrup in front of her.
Cheryl sat on the bar stool beside Toni and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Good Morning, TT. Did you already pay?"
"Good Morning. You look beautiful. And yes, I did pay. Eat up!"
Cheryl looked down at the pancakes with a growling stomach, but ignored it. "Thank you. I'm not feeling very well so I think I'll take it to-go."
"What's wrong?" Toni said with a worried look as she placed her hand on her girlfriends face, testing her temp. Cheryl moves to grab her hand and pulled it down to her lap. "Are you getting sick?"
"Just an upset stomach. It's probably just my period coming up, T.T. Nothing to worry about. Let's talk about this summer."
"Okay! So we'll start here obviously and then make our way up to New York and back. I'll take you to New York City and show you all my favorite places. And then we will make it back home within a week or two of school starting so you have time to relax before school starts back."
"That sounds wonderful. So what about food and hotels? Should we go ahead and book?"
"Well, it's a little more complicated than that."
And so Toni explained it to her until they had to leave for school. The more they talked about it, the more anxious Cheryl became. She felt so out of control. She couldn't book a hotel because Toni said she didn't know where they would be on what days, and that alone upset her. While she was excited to be with Toni everyday for three months, she had too many questions running through her head. Who would care for Nana Rose? What if they ran out of gas? What would they eat? How would they carry their clothes and hygiene products? It was all a bit too much for Cheryl.

Cheryl sat in her red thunderbird staring at the Riverdale High sign, trying to figure out how to hide the fact that she didn't want her pancakes in the backseat, until she felt Toni's hand rest on hers. "You ready, babe?"
Cheryl leaned in for a kiss, "Shall we?"
Then Cheryl released Toni's hand and pushed her driver door open. She watched Toni do the same and they meet in the middle, joining hands again. Cheryl leaned into Toni as they walked and peeked her cheek.
It still surprised people to see Cheryl so open about her relationship with Toni. Even though people acting like they didn't care, Cheryl always noticed their stares as the couple passed in the hallway. When they finally make it to Cheryl's first classroom, Toni leans in for a kiss and Cheryl meet her halfway. At first being so public bothered her, but now she kind of liked the attention, especially from TT.
"I'll see you later, babe," Toni winked at Cheryl, causing a smile to form across the redhead's lips as they let go of each others hands. Cheryl watches her girlfriend as she turns to leave, wavering on her behind for a little longer than necessary.
Right as Cheryl is turning to go to her boring history class, she catches a glimmer of pearls and turns on her heels. There stood Veronica, rocking the exquisite pearl necklace Cheryl had given her since Daddy Lodge and Veronica were no longer on good terms.
"Veronica!" Cheryl called across the hallway. She made her way towards her, and unlike the usual smile Veronica has, her face is pale and awash with a deep frown. Cheryl can visibly see the worry and stress radiating off V.
"Veronica..." Cheryl says, worrisome, "I'm so sorry. I just wanted to say that, considering Archie's heroics that day on the river, Thistlehouse and my funds are open to you should you need the help." She pauses. "My arms are also open, should you need a shoulder to cry on."
Cheryl puts her hand on Veronica's shoulder and rubs it. Surprisingly, Veronica pulls Cheryl into an abrupt hug. After a minute, she pulls back, but holds onto Cheryl's shoulders. "Thank you, Cheryl," Veronica says with the most sincere look on her face. She gives her a small smile before turning to go to her class.
