I sat at the kitchen table eating breakfast and scrolling through the pictures from our last photoshoot. I was in my usual Saturday attire of sweats, a messy bun, and a moisturizing face mask. It was a complete contrast from the pictures I was looking at. With my brother at work and my uncle at the office finding us more work I felt comfortable with letting myself relax.

My brother had started as a model before my sister and I had. Only difference was we stuck with it while he gave up on it pretty quickly. Our mom wasn't too disappointed when he quit since Valerie and I had just started gaining a following. Valerie's boyfriend Chase was a model too although a lesser known one. They had met on the set of a joint photo shoot and had hit it off immediately. I hadn't been happy when I learned she was dating someone but I got over it pretty quickly.

"What are you looking at?" Valerie asked as she came into the kitchen. She grabbed a bowl, filled it with cereal and milk, and set it down next to mine.

"The pictures from last week," I replied through a mouthful of food. "Here have a look."

My sister took the phone from me and began skimming through the photos. She nodded her approval as she said, "Look at Myrtle coming through with the good edits."

We had worked with Myrtle for many years. That's pretty much the only reason she knew how to handle Valerie so well. Any project where we could choose our photographer we always chose her. Her work was amazing and we were constantly in awe at how she made us look even better than we could ever imagine.

"She told me to tell you that if you dont act right next time she's going to quit and never work with us again," I teased.

Valerie laughed. "She cant quit us and she knows it."

"Has Uncle Travis told you what our next project is yet? I heard we got an offer for a commercial series."

Valerie put my phone down gently. Her unreadable expression made me nervous. "I actually wanted to talk to you about that," she started quietly. "How would you feel about doing that series solo?"

"What do you mean solo? The offer is for the Elliot twins. And what would you be doing if I'm doing a solo commercial series?"

"Well see the thing is... I got an offer for a movie."

I sat there in stunned silence. My mind refused to comprehend what she was telling me. We had never done a movie before. Not only that but the offer was only for her. What happened to being a package deal?

"I know we've always done everything together," she defended herself when I questioned her. "I happened to bring up my interest in trying acting to Uncle Travis and he found me an audition. We figured I'd go just to gain the experience. Neither of us were expecting me to get the part. And yet here we are."

"So you're just going to abandon me?"

"What? No of course not. I'm not abandoning you. I just-"

I didnt let her finish. I stood up, grabbed my wallet and car keys, and headed out the front door. I ignored her as she called after me to come back. I paused slightly when she shouted that my face mask was still on. Still, my heart would not let me go back in that house. I pulled out of the driveway and took off down the road unsure of my destination.
