You

Were the smile on my face
And the butterflies in my stomach

The laughter bubbling in my throat
And the sweat dripping down my cheek

You were the curses I whispered before I got up
And the prayers I would say before sleep

The sappy poems about love on my phone
And my frightening late night thoughts

You were the helium in my heart that let me ride highs
But also my rock when it was time to come down

You were all the stars in the sky I would wish to
And my burning internal fire I would wish for

You were like the moon- going through changes
And even sometimes not being there at all

You were my love and when the time came
I gave you away

I guess now you're just you because now you're gone
And all these things are still here
