Home Alone

I never liked house-sitting, I never liked being alone especially when I was there to look after something or someone . Bad luck seems to follow me around, like a moth and a bright flickering flame. Which is ironic seeing that I've been babysitting for three months now.
I'm was babysitting at that very moment when the first of several strange events occurred.
Wind scattered and pulled dead leaves from the long forgotten pear tree at the end of the garden.
I was getting a bad vibe from this place, I knew something was different about any other house within the silent Loppington streets. Loppington was a dead town, it wasn't always like this though. When people wanted to get away from crowded city streets and escape to the countryside, my little town was always the first choice. My mother,  joint mayor of this town was proud to call this place home - but now the place is different. All the attractions have long broke down and less than 100 people live here.
There is only one school, one market hall and one park. Anything else is miles away it was always silent nothing ever happened until the Jackson family moved in to the 'haunted' mansion on the hill.
Something was different about them, their manner was cold and sophisticated alien to the rest of the homey and colloquial villagers. We had the traditional greeting meal but they never ate a thing and not to be racist but they were extremely pale almost like a family of ghosts. Time after time, I tried to make small talk find any common ground, anything! Never. Never did I ever get a chuckle or even a response out of them. They always avoided everything and everyone at all costs.

Until they wanted something from you.
Which they did - they wanted me to babysit

I kissed my mum goodbye as I stepped onto their driveway. I instantly regretted my decision to babysit little Amelio Jackson, but when I turned around tempted to jump back into the old Mercedes, I could see the car rolling down the rural lane. Then a scrawny young woman, no older than me slowly walked up to me with her head down. I could tell by the guilty expression that something was wrong.

I was in danger
