"You've got to be kidding me!" I shouted.
"Nope, and don't even try to argue with me because I'm not changing my mind." My mum said.
"You know I hate kids," I whined. Before you start shouting boo or throwing food, hear me out. Every time I try to make an effort with kids they always seem to see me through my fake act and expose me for what I truly feel towards the little brats. Take last week for example, I went to my best friend, Sophie's house and was forced to greet her little sister, who was two years old, so I went up to her and plastered a fake smile to my face.
"Hello!" I said sweetly. Her response was dumping the remains of her porridge over my head. Whilst my best friend rolled on the floor with laughter, I was taking deep breaths and counting to ten. As you can see I hate them and they hate me. So you can imagine my expression when my mum told me I was going to babysitting my cousin for two weeks.
"Where's auntie Chris going anyway?" I asked.
"To Ibiza with her boyfriend," she replied putting the shopping away.
"And why can't Alex stay with us?" I questioned.
"Because you're eighteen and both me and your aunt both agreed it would be a great way for you to experience living on your own."
"I get holidays and this is what you make me do."
"Oh please. Stop exaggerating and go call your brother we're eating dinner." She said giving me a stern look. I trudged up the stairs and knocked on my brother's door.
"Come in." I opened the door to see my twin brother with headphones on, absorbed in the game he was playing, rapidly pressing the buttons on the controller.
"Adam!" I shouted. With a sigh, he paused the game and turned around. Me and my brother weren't identical but looked very similar. We shared the same dark brown hair and big hazel eyes. His hair was messy and fell over his eyes.
"Yes?" He said itching to continue his game.
"We're eating dinner now," I told him.
"I'm coming." He stood up and began to pack away his games console.
"How come you don't have to babysit Alex?" I asked. He stopped wrapping up his controller and turned to face me once again a smug smirk on his face.
"I'm not the one who has problems with innocent children," he replied with a laugh.
"Kate! Adam! Get down here now!" Mum shouted from the bottom of the stairs.
"Come on let's go," Adam said walking out his room with me trailing behind.

I twirled the spaghetti with my fork not wanting to eat. I scrunched my face up in disgust when I saw Adam eating with his mouth open trying to spoon another mouthful into his already full mouth, his food whirring around his mouth like a washing machine.
"Kate," my mum said.
"Huh," I replied bringing a glass of water to my lips.
"Auntie Chris will pick you up tomorrow and tell you everything you'll need to know." I choked on my water.
"Tomorrow!"
"Yes"
"But she's not going for another week!"
"She wants you to get used to being in the house."

After dinner, is went to my room and jumped on my king sized bed turning on the TV in front of me. I got out my phone and sent a text to Sophie.

💟SOPHIE💟

Guess what?

Oh she knows

Good luck ring me if you need help

Thanks❤

I closed my phone and put it on my bedside table and laid down staring up at the ceiling.
"Why do I have the feeling that something is going to go terribly wrong." I said before drifting off to sleep.
