The Magic Between Us

Chapter 1

I should've been more careful when stealing from the vendor in the market, because I had no money and I could've got someone to pay a pretty good sum on the item, but I was caught by the Captain of the Guard. Apparently, in this country they need someone to make sure their guards don't slack on the job. I used to live in a country a long time ago where the guards were to make sure I didn't leave the castle at night. They were always more focused on keeping me in than keeping anyone else out.
So,here I was locked in a prison cell, my weapons had been removed, but it was a good thing that I had some pins in my hair that could help me pick the locks. I reached behind my head, dug into my hair and came up empty handed on the pins.
I knew I'd put them in my hair this morning, and now there was no way I could pick the lock to the cell. I stood up and started pacing, until I heard foot steps coming towards my cell. I curled up in the corner and decided to play the defenseless young lady who had no idea what she was doing here.
"This is her,Your Majesty." I heard the guard say.
I looked up to see the prince staring down at me, I sat up and forced tears to my eyes. His expression wasn't of stone,but of pity, and he was one of the most handsome guy that I had ever seen. His hair was a bright blonde that almost seemed red in the reflected lights, and his eyes were a bright blue that had so much depth, that someone could drown in them. He was tall,probably taller than me, and was lean.
The Crown Prince,Christian Beltare, just stared as if he'd never seen a girl before. Of course I had just turned 18 a couple of weeks ago which would make me a woman, but that isn't anyone's concern.
"May I ask what this girl did to get thrown into the dungeon?" The prince asked.
I looked behind him and saw the Captain of the Guard, without his horrific helmet on and saw that he was also an attractive man.
"She was caught stealing in the market." The Captain answered.
"We usually don't through them into the dungeon for it." The prince said.
"She also almost killed a couple of my men, while trying to flee." The Captain added.
"Seriously,a tiny thing like her, almost killed some of your men?" The prince was astonished.
"I found out who she was after she was put in there, Selena Cerulean, except no one knows she is just a girl." The Captain said.
  "Who is this girl you speak of?" I asked,trying my best to not get angry about being called a girl.
"Really,you're going to try to trick us, if you have not noticed girl,you are in a dungeon with no way of getting out." The Captain growled, and I saw in his hands my pick locking pins.
"I am not a girl." I snapped.
"How old are you?" The prince asked.
"That's none of your business,Your Majesty." I growled.
The Captain was opening the door before I could react and had me slammed against the wall, he growled, "You will answer the prince's question."
"Or what?" I asked,smirking in his face, "Would you actually hurt a girl?"
"You may still be a girl,but you are one of the most ruthless assassins in the country." The Captain said.
"That's enough Rhys." The prince said.
The Captain let go of me,walked out,slammed the door  shut and locked it. The Captain stood by the prince and whispered something in his ear.
"That's all the questions I have for now, until we meet again Selena." The prince said,then he and the Captain were gone.
  I sat down on the ground,trying to wrap my head around what had just happened. If I had my weapons the Captain wouldn't have dared do what he had done, but the longer I thought about it, the more it became clear. The Captain wasn't afraid of me,and he could probably take me on if I did escape.
I wished that I'd never gotten captured, but my enemies had been watching, the ones that I used to call my friends, and they would never help me escape and if anything they would find a way to kill me. I guess then that I'll have to wait and see what happens, hopefully it isn't too surprising.
