Light

The smile upon her pretty face,
just the same, it had not changed..
No outward mark of heartache..
Though from happiness she was estranged..

Had she known their time so short,
her love she would have given,
to he who had shown her his own..
Yet he decided he didn't..

So the same he feels right now..
Wishing he'd been kept in shadow, wishing he'd never seen the light, until the time was right.. so he'd be able to accept this starless night..

Her light, sweet light,
Had melted his frozen heart..
So that when she left, he was so very changed
and soon fell apart..

Now he'd wish he could break her, hate her, curse her, just to pull him through..
He knew it wouldn't erase the pain..
But there was nothing else he could do..

Now the simple way they bear their days
by imagining in some far place..
a new light flickers and awaits..
