Open the Windows and Step Out Into the Sunshine

23 2 2

Open the windows and step out in the sunshine

For we are wilting in the darkness

You stole what made us feel alive

We were stupid to believe you were harmless.

The web of lies your soft words spun

When you promised you would unlock the door

But still our lifeless eyes never saw the sun

Locked in the attic remained us four.

We are older, wiser now

No longer paper flowers

Living in sunlit fantasies somehow

We took back the lives that were always ours.
