Now I developed insomnia at a very young age. When I was five to be exact. I ended up developing it from a traumatic experience with me, my dad, and my sister.

My dad was an alcoholic and sometimes he would bring his dreams to life. Well one night he had did just that. In his dream a killer had broken into our house and was hiding in our playroom.

My sister and I had been awake for a while. When my dad came and got us from upstairs we were forced to sit in the car for about two hours. When my dad finally thought the killer left the house we went back in. It was about 930pm. My sister and I had school the next day so we went up to our room to go to bed.

My sister fell asleep easily but I was having trouble sleeping. At around 11:30pm I went downstairs to get a drink of water. When I went to go back upstairs my dad was on the phone with the police saying that my 6 year old sister was laying dead at the top of the stairs. Now at the time I was terrified but I also wanted to know if my sister was okay.

When the cops showed up I was told to go to my neighbors house and wait. The cops came over to ask me questions but I could only say while in tears, "where's Diane? Is she okay? Where's my sister?" They wouldn't answer me and they eventually stopped asking me questions.

I had to spend the night at my neighbors house. The next day I finally got my answer. I didn't go to school my mom kept me and my sister home. My sister was alive she was just in a deep sleep. I was terrified. After that I always had trouble sleeping. That's when I developed insomnia. It's also why I'm so protective over those whom I care about.
