The night grew darker as she walked on. She knew it was dangerous to be on the street at this time of the night; hell, she knew it was dangerous to be on the street at any time these days. But she knew she needed to keep walking, her feet ached and she stepped the blisters that had formed under her feet as she walked on. she needed to find somewhere safe to hide for the night before she was seen or heard by anyone and anything. She stopped suddenly, she thought she heard something from the alley to her right. her ears peeked as she slowed her breathing and tried to make out the sound she heard but it was quiet now. she proceeded slowly with caution, trying to be as light and silent as a cat. she was getting closer to the alley now, she was not sure what she would find. even though she knew it was dangerous to keep pressing forward, it was apparent that going back would mean death for her. The street light above her head flickered continuously, it has always baffled her how everything else in the world had stopped working but for some reason, the street lights seem to be more dedicated to their work than anything else in this apocalyptic world that they now lived in. The only things that seem to be more dedicated to their jobs than the street lights are the creatures that came out of the ground and the new ones that were formed when humans began to transform into different kinds of creatures too. The old world might have ended but a new one definitely began from then on.
Sarah could feel the grumbling in her stomach the only food she had eaten for the past two days has been the corned beans she found in the last house she ransacked. As is if the deadly creatures were not enough, hunger was wiping out the last remaining humans in the world. she held on to her stomach and pressed on as quietly as possible. she finally got to the corner that led to the alley, she could hear the sound clearly now. It was a growling sound, but the growling sound was more of a creature in pain than just a call or snare. she took two short breaths with her mouth and peeked at the alley, she was horrified by what she saw. it was some humans transforming into... into something else. she wanted to scream but she quickly put her hand on her mouth to muffle her scream. her eyes widened as she watched in horror what was happening to a bunch of humans that have been infected with the Anime-Virus.
Sarah watched on as the skin on the body of the humans that were transforming melted from their skin, their bones made crackling sounds as it metamorphosed into body parts. the humans were now beginning to scream in pain, one of them had the mouth fall off and warp itself around the head to become a part of the upper head. The rib cage ripped open and out of it came an octopus looking creature that wrapped itself around the head of the human it came out of. some of them grew forearms and legs instead and became animal-like creatures with sharp teeth and big long ears. The whole process was excruciating and horrific.

The creatures were finally completely transformed and now they looked around in a frenzy as they sniff the air for the scent of a human. Sarah knew she needed to run away now. she immediately ran across the alley as quietly as she could but it was not enough. The creatures heard her footstep and they could smell her scent; she wreaked of fear. The creatures immediately started running after her, Sarah looked behind her as she ran. she could not see anything behind her, this made her heart beat even faster. she was not sure if she could outrun them but she was not going to wait to find out, she kept on running. her blistered feet were bleeding now, she panted for air as she ran, her legs were weak and they wanted to give out but she would not let them. she could see a small opening that led to the sewer, all of a sudden she felt a new rush of energy in her body and she ran even faster towards the opening. All of a sudden from behind her she could hear a loud shrieking sound up in the air and three growling sounds behind her. The creature that developed wings was now flying towards her with its claws open and Jaws ready to devour her. From the side of her eyes, as she looked back slightly, she could see the three big wolf-like creatures running towards her. Her heart skipped a bit, she could feel her heart pounding in her chest and it hurt. she was almost there now but she was not sure she would make it. From above her she could hear the flying creature taking a deep dive towards her, she knew now that it was now or never, she was just a few feet from the entrance of the sewer and the wolf-like creatures were only a few feet from her too. she could feel the hair on her skin rise and her body quiver, she felt one of the running wolf-like creatures try to grab her at her backpack, she heard as the claws tore through the bag but she never stopped running. in one rapid motion, she slid down on her buttocks and fell into the sewer. It was at this point that the running creatures tried to grab her again, she heard as their claws made a screeching sound on the wall as they scratched the entrance of the sewer and the creature that took a nose dive from above crashed with a thud into the three that was at the entrance of the sewer. she could hear from where she was as the current of the wastewater took her away, the shrieking sounds of the creatures as they crashed into each other. she sighed as she knew that she was out of danger for now. however, she looked to the front and noticed that the sewer water flowed into a river that was down below. Sarah scrambled to swim against the current of the wastewater but it was stronger than she could fight and she was too close to the edge. She screamed as she fell to the river below.
