Chapter 1
Another companion lost. A part of her now hurts. She felt broken. She had failed Amy, Rory, River, Clara and now Bill.
"Right that's it, no more companions. I can't keep losing anyone else" she muttered to herself.
Thirteen sat down on the sofa in her control room.
"At least I've always go you ey?" She said to her TARDIS who had been her loyal companion all these years.
Thirteen began to fall asleep, she hadn't fallen asleep for many weeks now. She wore a grey trench coat that went down to her shins, a top with a rainbow on it, some yellow braces and some big black boots. Her hair was cut at her jawline and was a bright blonde colour. And her eyes, her eyes were brown but so, so old. If you looked into them long enough you could see how many battles she had fought and how alone she was.
"WHOOOOSH" The TARDIS sang and Thirteen immediately woke up.
"Oi old girl! What are you doing?" Thirteen exclaimed as she looked at the TARDIS.
"Where on earth have you taken me?! Well we might not be on earth so let me rephrase that...Where in the universe have you taken me?!...god I really am a madwoman with a box"
The TARDIS had started travelling through the vortex and finally landed. Thirteen got up from the sofa and walked to the scanner to check where she was.
"Oh we are on Earth...I didnt have to rephrase that sentence after all!"
She scrunched up her face and scratched her head trying to work out her coordinates and what year it was.
"Ah; 2018 what an interesting year...well at least its not 2019, that doesn't end well. Oh and we're in Sheffield old girl!" She stopped and sighed "but why have you brought me here?" She stroked the TARDIS as if it was a real person. Anyone could tell that the TARDIS meant everything to Thirteen.

Thirteen began to walk hesitantly to the door, not sure why the Tardis had brought her to this moment. Thirteen pulled the handle to the door and a cold, blue light flooded her face. It was night time and by the looks of the bare trees it was winter. As thirteen stepped out her TARDIS she noticed how bright the stars were shining, she shivered as she realised the clothes she was wearing weren't fit for the winter. She locked the TARDIS and walked out into the starry night. The icy breeze brushed onto her cheeks sending shivers down her spine. There was no one in sight as far as she could tell. The buildings in the distance stood tall with only a few lights glowing in the window. The sound of nearby cars and traffic jams, Well that's Sheffield for you, Thirteen thought. In front of her was a river and the trees by it were whispering to one another. The water on the river was black and sinister the moon reflected off of it, making it seem peaceful and safe. Thirteen walked down the riverbank and started to walk alongside the river on a well paved, pale stone floor. The sound of her boots hit the floor which echoed around the surrounding buildings.
Thirteen was too busy admiring the peacefulness of her walk to remember to look where she was going and that's when she heard a small shriek.
Back in reality Thirteen looked around and her eyes met with anothers. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to bump into you" Thirteen said with a worrying look.
"It's okay, I'm fine" the girl groaned as she covered her knee with her hand which seemed to have a red substance coming out of it.
"Oh shit, you're hurt...umm I've got plasters in my TARDIS...she's only 15 minutes that way" Thirteen said as she pointed to the place where she had parked the TARDIS.
The girl looked slightly puzzled, not knowing what a TARDIS was.
"No, no, I live just here anyway" she looked up at a tall building full of flats.
"Perhaps you could help me get up the stairs? The lift has broke...I keep phoning the council to make them fix it but they never listen" she seemed annoyed as the girl's mind wandered to the council.
Thirteen put out her hand to pull the girl up and then put her arm around the girl's waist to help her walk. There was something about the girl that Thirteen couldn't quite work out. She felt almost comfortable with her? Which was very strange seeing as Thirteen never felt comfortable with anyone the first time she would meet them.
They both finally made it to the door of the girl's flat. And the doctor let out a big sigh, tired of pretty much carrying the girl up the five flights of stairs.
"Ta-dahhh! We made it." Thirteen saw a faint white glow from a tv inside the flat and asked the girl if she lived with anyone.
"Yeah...my parents, nan and my sister, I'm trying to move but haven't got the money yet. Well thank you for dropping me off. Hang on I don't even know your name?" The girl asked realising that they had spent almost an hour together and not even introduced themselves.
"Oh I'm The Doctor. It's nice to meet you...?"
"Yaz, Yasmin Kahn, but you can just call me Yaz...a doctor of what exactly?"
" a doctor of many things...don't get me started. Well I'm really sorry for the knee and I hope we meet again sometime Yasmin Kahn" the doctor said with a smile on her face, she seemed sad almost has if she lost another friend but they had only spent one hour together? Pull yourself together the doctor thought.
Yaz unlocked her front door and the doctor turned to walk away. Something inside of her hurt. A part of her hoped she would see Yaz again.
"Doctor?" Yaz called, immediately The Doctor spun around. "Would you like a cup of tea? I know it's late but I ought to thank you for taking me up all those stairs"
"Of course, Tea at Yaz's! I wouldn't miss it for the world!" God Doctor that was so cringey!...wait her family are going to be here...how do I act around humans again? I haven't spent much time with humans recently...remember what you promised yourself Doctor, no more companions...but Yaz is different. I can't ignore that.
