"YOU NEVER DO ANYTHING FOR THIS FAMILY!" I heard mum yelling to dad. I was in my room, counting the seconds, minutes, hours it would take for all the yelling to stop. I don't know about your family, but for mine, this was normal. I heard everything they yelled at each other. "I HAVE RAISED (Y/N) FOR 16 YEARS AND ALL YOU DO IS DRINK AND HANG OUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS!" Mum argued. "WELL YOU KNOW WHAT?" Dad yelled "MAYBE I JUST WANNA LIVE MY LIFE INSTEAD OF RAISE SOME SPOILT 16-YEAR-OLD BRAT!". This wasn't the first time he'd called me names like that, when I was 6 and I didn't appreciate not getting a birthday present,he called me a bratty bitch, so I didn't think much of it because nothing could top when he said he'd wished he'd never even created me. But anyway, they argued for a good hour and I heard some silence for a few seconds and then a door being slammed. I heard my mother sobbing and walking upstairs to my room. "S-sweetie, we need to talk" she whispered with a sore throat. I knew something was wrong immediately, she never said this after an argument. "So as you know, me and your father argue a lot" she said softly "well, me and your father have decided that we are g-going t-" she said without finishing the sentence. She couldn't seem to speak but she managed to say, "me and your father are going to get divorced!". I was shocked, I couldn't believe it. "We've actually been thinking about it for a while now." She whispered softly. She sounded like she had lost her voice, which I would not be surprised about. "Where is dad staying tonight?" I asked. "Your father will be staying at a hotel tonight and I am clueless of which one." Mum replied. I started to tear up and eventually cry. Mum hugged me until she started to cry too. We sat there, sobbing until we fell asleep. It felt good to have somebody with me at a time like this. I didn't think my friends would've understood this situation, their parents have never split up or argued, al least that's what they tell me.
