Blue skies, birds chirping, and not a cloud in sight, it's a regular wonderful day in the town Marshal. All the towns- folk are going about their day happily.
"Are we almost there yet?" A shaky voice emerges from Micheal's side, making him turn to the right to answer his impatient friend. "Naw man, we aren't even halfway there!" he stated cheerfully.
"You sound as if you like suffering," Aiden retorted, his feet now aching. "Well no pain, no gain amirite?" Micheal said as if he were trying to motivate his visibly tired friend.
To most young normals, it was a regular day, wake up, get ready for school, sit all day, go home. Nothing out of the box really. But for the gifteds that haven't yet enrolled in an academy or for the others that are new to town, it was a very special day.
"Y'know what, I can't do this," Micheal quickly turned back to his friend to make sure everything was alright, he soon sighed as he saw him sprout two small wings out of his back.
Aiden and Micheal are gifteds. What exactly is a "gifted" you may ask, let me give you a short answer.
A gifted is what normals call people that have superhuman powers. No one really knows where these powers came from, but there are a lot of good guesses made by normals and gifteds. The most accurate one may be the one surrounding the contamination that happened around 15 years ago.
Almost 15 years back there had been an accidental contamination that spread like a disease. Whatever was spread gave the gifteds these unknown powers ranging between being able to talk to animals to being able to make huge fireballs that could burn your victim to their knees.
"Y'know Aiden, if you use your wings to get around all the time, you might gain a few pounds!" Micheal said jokingly, he knew that Aiden didn't have such a sense of humor, so he let out a hearty laugh to let him know he wasn't serious.
"It honestly doesn't matter anymore. I'd rather be chubby than being stuck with athlete's foot." Aiden timidly stated as he hovered up and down off the ground.
As you may have figured this out already, Aiden can make little wings appear out to his back to fly. He mostly uses them to help normals who are in need of assistance, but he normally uses them to aid himself when he's feeling lazy that day.
As Micheal fidgeted with his academy uniform he felt into his tight pocket and whipped out his ID. It had a handsome picture of him on it with some other important stuff on it, like what homeroom he had. It also had a gift identifier on it.
A gift identifier was a small metal circle on the edge of the ID card. It was for entering the school, it was there to make sure no normals infiltrate the all gifteds school. The government decided to split up the gifteds and normals into different schools because some undeserving gifteds would bully and injure poor little normals using their power.
"Hey, hey Aiden look." Aiden slowly turned his head to look at whatever his friend was so worked up about. Aiden snorted when he saw the campaign poster of a very controversial man now defaced by Micheal's power. The man's smooth bald head had now had small lines of dirty water made to look like a ratty wig. He now had huge eyebrows and an ugly mustache.
Micheal could control any liquid, whether it be water, juice, or wine. As long as it classifies as a liquid, he could manipulate it. Of course, Micheal being Micheal, he uses it to be mischievous and humorous.
As Micheal and Aiden continue to talk and joke around, a familiar voice blurts out a loud greeting. Immediately, they both turn to see who the voice belonged to.
"CHRISTOPHER?!?!" The two boys yell in unison.
"Christopher? Come on guys it hasn't been that long, it's Chris to you!" The energetic boy happily states. The two boys are still in shock while staring at their friend that they haven't seen in five whole years. They had a lot to catch up with.
