The Night Before

Chapter 1 (with Introductions!)

A/N: HELLOOO!! IT IS ME, ART3MIS! I needed to re-do the whole thing as I had gotten a good plan on how to continue this story. I hope you enjoy the new version of the story! (P.S- It is gonna be longer!)

Introduction

Paris, as usual, resembled a magical paradise as portrayed in our fantasy stories. The diamonds that adorned the large silky veil in the sky looked breathtaking. The sun had gone down to take a nap and was replaced by a glistening pearl, shining with the utmost radiance. With this in the background, many Parisians would see silhouettes of the classic Haussmannien- styled houses complementing the landscape, making it a romantic evening for couples to go out and enjoy each other's company. However, for Paris's beloved superhero, it was not so... just as Cat Noir got down on one knee and presented a rose to his love, Ladybug. He had prepared a special evening for Ladybug, with rose petals laid on the floor, as well as lit candles being lined up on the railings.

CHAPTER 1

"C...Cat?" Ladybug stammered, pushing back the rose to Cat Noir. "I...I can't."

"M'lady? Why?" Cat Noir answered with a tinge of disappointment. His beloved rarely stammers in front of him and in this situation, he realised that she was hesitating. "Does M'lady want to hear some cat puns to cheer her up?"

"Cat Noir, please!" Ladybug shouted at Cat Noir in anger. " I told you! I cannot accept your feelings! My heart... belongs to someone else." Her tone slowly transitioned from anger to feeling remorseful.

Ladybug knew that every word she had said was true, yet untrue. Each word she had thrown at Cat Noir had taken a toll on her emotionally. Even if Ladybug loved someone else, deep down, she had feelings for her superhero partner too. She might have liked him for his quirky, as well as his humorous personality, or... he just resembled her crush, Adrien Agreste.

"Who...May I know who that would be?" Cat Noir choked on his words as he held back his tears. He rarely cries, however, his lady had deeply caused him emotional pain that he had no other feelings to pour out, except for sadness.

"Cat...I'm sorry." Ladybug looked into his eyes and saw sadness filling inside of him. "Remember? We promised never to reveal our superhero identities. Until we beat that bastard, Hawkmoth. This is a way of doing so, you know?" Ladybug, sighing in exasperation, leaned on a railing that was just beside her and turned to look at a humungous 'Adrien Fragrance' poster to calm her down.

Just by looking at a picture of her crush made her blush from head to toe, making her insides melt into a puddle of goo. He smiled back with his famous movie-star smile that would put every actor in shame and his emerald green eyes shone with happiness, causing Ladybug to cup her face with her hands and looked at him dreamily.

Cat Noir, with his feline instincts, noticed Ladybug's sudden change of behaviour, from a disappointed one to one that resembled a fangirl that is trying her utmost best to keep her cool. Cat Noir, filled with jealousy, got ready to beat that guy down, the one who had stolen his lover's heart. Just as he noticed the large poster, he was startled and almost started chuckling to himself. Luckily for him, Ladybug was immersed in her world to notice what had happened to Cat Noir.

"Ladybug is having a crush on Adrien? Me? Wow...So she DOES love me, in civilian form, that is." Cat Noir thought aloud. He realised that the only person he was jealous of was of himself! And with that, he almost had another fit of laughs.

"So, M'lady?" Cat Noir cleared his throat and tried to stop the quivering of his voice, bringing Ladybug to reality by asking, " The famous model, Adrien Agreste, is your heart-stealer?"
