"Pete, where are you? We're missing prime trick or treating hours!" You question your best friend Peter on the phone. The two of you having been planning to go trick or treating together for weeks and now he was an hour late.
"I know, I'm so sorry Y/N! Aunt May is just putting some finishing touches on my costume, I'll be there soon!" He lies into the ear piece in his suit. Peter was in the middle of stopping a bank robbery, being as though he is Spider-Man and all. He wanted nothing more than to tell you that his secret, but he was afraid that his enemies would become your enemies once he tells you and he would never want to put you in harm's way. So, he decides to keep it a secret, even though it kills him inside.
"Peter it doesn't matter what you are wearing, you could be in a shirt with the Spider-Man logo on it and we'd still get candy! Now hurry up please." You beg hopping he would arrive soon seeing as it was starting to get dark and your curfew was 10. Your mom would kill you if you came home past that.
Webbing up the last criminal, he says "I just finished and I'm on my way now. Be there in like 5 minutes!"
"Good and I swear to god Pete if this isn't the best costume I've ever seen, I'm gonna kill you." You admit as you angrily hang up.
Minutes later, Peter arrives a block away and sprints towards you considering you probably would have figured out that he was Spider-Man if he came swinging right over to you. Good thinking Peter, he thought to himself. However, what Peter neglected to realize is that he still had the freaking suit on. When he finally gets to you, you are looking down towards your phone not paying attention to anything around you. He taps you on the shoulder to bring your attention towards him.
"Finally, there you are- woah, your-your costume. It-it looks so real! Man, May really outdid herself this time." You say admiring the suit and touching every single crevice. From the spider on his chest, to the web shooters on his hands, this suit was insanely accurate.
Peter, not sure what you mean, looks down to see that his idiot self still left the dang suit on. He lets out a little scream, "Oh yeah well you know May, always wanting out do herself, I- I don't even know where she got some of this material but I think she did a pretty good job?" he states more like a question and with a little awkward laugh.
"Pretty good? I mean Pete you have to admit, this is insane! I mean this costume is SPOT ON. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were actually Spider-Man." You admit. You'd be lying if you said the thought of your best friend being Spider-Man never crossed your mind. All those times he canceled your plans or suddenly had to leave when the two of you were hanging out, your mind couldn't help but wonder. But you knew that if he was in fact Spider-Man, he would've told you, so you just let those thoughts travel to the back of your head.
"Me? Spider-Man? I mean c'mon Y/N, you know I hate spiders and besides, I- I get scared whenever Flash calls me Penis Parker, you really think I could swing from building to building and fight off some criminals? You also know I'm deathly afraid of heights, so there's just no way!" Peter nervously rambles, trying his best not to sound like he is trying too hard to make you think he isn't the caped crusader. The last part was true by the way, Peter's biggest phobia was acrophobia, which made being a superhero that scales buildings all the more complicated.
"Yeah, no you're right," you brush off the thought, "You definitely couldn't be. Plus, you're too much of a pussy," you laugh, earning a raised eyebrow from Peter.
"What? Now hold on a minute I am not a pussy? Sure, I may leave the apartment for a couple of hours when I see a bug or cry every time I go over a bridge, but I would just chalk that all up to being delicate." Peter fights.
"Sure delicate," You say using air quotes. "Can we just go now please? We've wasted enough time and I want to make sure we get all the good candy!" You say enthusiastically. Peter nodded his head in agreement as he linked his arm with yours and the two of you headed out. "I just have one more question though, how did she get the eyes to move?"
"It's a mystery to me." Peter nervously chuckles, successfully avoiding another almost slip up. He definitely wanted to tell you his secret soon, but today wasn't the time or place. He needed to tell you a different secret first, but that's a different story for a different day.
