How I met Him

"Hurry up, you're going to be late." I groan as slowly walk down the stairs. First day of school is always the worst. I'm wearing a black and white t-shirt, red shorts, black heels, a butterfly necklace, and to top it off I put my hair in space buns. I still feel shitty. I tumble my way down into the living room where finally I see my dad.

"You're wearing that on the first day?" He never approved.

"Yes, now just take the photo's so I can leave." Great, the first day of freshman year and I'm late.

"Relax, you'll be fashionably late, now smile." As he says those words I cringe. I never smile in photos, especially ones for my dad to post on Facebook. I put on a weak fake smile, it was good enough for the photo apparently.

"Kay I'm leaving, I'll see you after." I say as I shuffle out the door, almost tripping. The walk to school is mostly pleasant. I live in a small town, and the school is on main street. As I walk down the slightly busy (for our town anyways) street, I look at all the shops and before I know it I'm at school. Great. I slowly inch my way towards Parowan High School, which is much more a prison then school. I moved here last school year during the last month of school. I hated the little bit I saw.

I entered the school, students were all over the hallways in there little groupies. I don't have a group, or friends. I make my way towards my locker and notice that I have two minutes till the bell rings.  Great, I have to wiggle my way to the locker, unload my stuff, the run upstairs to my math class. Of course I have math first, my schedule is bullshit. Math, English, History, Choir, Lunch, Science, Sewing, and finally PE. I have freaking co-ed PE. I begin shoving things in my locker and the bell rings. I shoved into my locker as it nearly shuts on me, going face first into a history book.

As I climb out shove everything in there as quick as I can. I'm going to be late to class I can feel it. Suddenly someone crouches next to me and picks my things up, and puts them in my locker.

"I'm Tyler." He said. I just nod and look at him. "Now what's your name?" He's being nice, I'm pretty sure he feels bad for me.

"I'm Ashley." I say it quick and blunt, I haven't even gotten a chance to look at this stranger. "Thank you for helping me, but I cant be late you can just shove it in." he's just setting everything in there nicely. I plan on skipping lunch to organize it, or staying a little after school.

"Well...okay." He just picks everything else up and sets it in the locker gently. He stands up and lends his hand out to help me up. I shake my head and stand up on my own. I don't need charity from a stranger. I say thank you once more and begin to walk away to the stairs but not before he stops me.

"Hey, you know it wouldn't hurt you to try and make a friend or two. I will be your first if you want." What is this, third grade?

"I don't need your charity but thanks anyways."

"It isn't charity, it's being tired of seeing a beautiful girl that's always alone." He says it so sincerely I almost want to believe it. "I'll see you around, Ashley." then he walks away, as the late bell rings.

Fuck! As I dash up the stairs and to my math class I notice half the class isn't even inside yet. The teacher wasn't there yet so thankfully I wasn't marked as late. The rest of class went by normal, the same first day greetings as usual. Same with my other classes up until lunch, our school was open canvas so most kids just left. I stayed, I had a locker to fix up. When I opened my locker it was completely organized with a note written on the white bored. "I have a free period first, so I thought I'd do something nice for my FRIEND. XOXO Tyler." I didn't have much plans for lunch. I headed towards the cafeteria, thinking about my next classes.

While I was thinking I walked straight into someone. I glanced up and it was none other than Tyler, who had some friends with him. I knew exactly who his friends were Jace Little, Trevon Yardley, and Beau Stewart. I just ran smack dab into someone in front of the Jockey's. They began to laugh but Tyler gave them a look that shut them up. He helped me up and began apologizing before I cut him off.

"I'm fine. No need to apologize." I don't do well with conversation.

"Well, no matter how much you wanna try to drive me away. I want to try to be friends with you." He was the one being blunt now. I looked up at him and noticed he had such amazing eyes. They were a blueish green...they were so different.

"Okay. Try all you want." I was trying to show I wasn't the least bit interested even though I really kinda was.

"Why do you have such high walls? Who hurt you that bad?" He was so curious about me, I hated it.

"You know, curiosity killed the cat." Take the hint man.
