At first, all I felt was the warmth of my own soul as I looked into the infinite an empty void that surrounded my being, the only thing keeping my sanity is the warmth of my own soul. Suddenly I saw something flicker in front of my very own eyes. Like a lighthouse guiding a ship through the night, it beckoned me closer. I felt lighter the more I came closer to the angelic light, as if the weight of my worries had been cut free from my mind. More complete, as of I had done my duty of following my heart. Then as I touched it, the light in the darkness, I felt my mind disappear and my soul fade as my body, like petals in the wind, dissolved into ember.
I saw nothing but darkness, however I didn't feel my warm soul. Instead of the loving warmth that kept my being warm and well, a pinning sensation began to form, as if millions of ants crawled through my body, attaching and connecting my limbs to their rightful place. A minute passed I felt my own pulse of a beating heart. Another minute passed and my vision came to me as a blur. I saw the carpet that lined the floor. It was brown. I could see! It felt so soft underneath my fingertips. My goodness I could feel! I looked around the room and I crawled on all fours from the fireplace that appeared to the middle of the floor. I... I could move! How long has it been since I have uses these sensations that I now have! I could- Suddenly an ear piercing scream ripped through the air and shattered my train of thought. That wasn't something I wanted to first hear.
I slowly stood up getting used to my once again whole body and slowly turned towards the direction of the sound. It was a curly black haired girl in white pajamas holding a glass of water. Her hazel eyes were full of fear, but for an odd reason, familiarity as well?
Rushed footsteps stomped through the house as the girl's parents came to her side on the steps. The mother hugged the girl protectively. As she hid behind her husband, holding the girl close to her being. Her eyes stared at me with sheer utter terror, as if her great fear had come to life. Suddenly a great pain coursed through my head, causing me to grip my head in agony and squeeze my eyes shut. As I fought the growing pain, I began to realize that there was something much greater at hand. A part that needed to be answered. Who am I?
The pain in my head intensified as I tried to recall my identity. Who am I?! A wave of heat pulsed from my steaming body and it was hot enough to make the family sweat as they fearfully stood on the steps. "Demon..." The father said, his damp, trimmed blonde hair sticking to the curvature of his face, his eyes blazing with hate and caution as he glared at me.. why did he hate me when I had done nothing? As soon as his words processed in my mind, a sense of joy resonated inside me as I took a small step towards the family. Is that what I am?
Suddenly, another wave of pain coursed through me, causing me to collapse on the floor, groaning in agony. What is this curse that is upon me, I thought as I looked up at the family that stood against the wall in front of me. Their clothes began to soak from the increasing temperature as the woman boldly proclaimed to her lover. "Quick get the holy water!" The carpet beneath me began to burn from the heat emitting from my body. The husband quickly ran off to retrieve the requested item and once again thoughts began to fill my mind. As my breathing grew rapid and the heat around me elevated exponentially, I was thrown into panic and confusion. Why did they fear me? What do I do to be seen in such a way? The husband's words echoed in my ear. Was my name demon? The man rushed over to me, beads of sweat dripping down his face and threw the liquid at me.
I thought nothing of it as the liquid splashes out of the glass vial that the husband held. I didn't know how such liquid could bring me pain as it splashed into my face, sizzling into my skin. I howled in pain as I felt the liquid seer and scar my face. Turning away, I shielded my face with my hands, laying in utter shock and agony. This is not how I imagined to hear my voice for the first time. As if to protect me, flames erupted from my body, sending the man screaming and scrambling back in sheer terror as his clothes caught aflame. His face paled in fear and realization before he grabbed what seemed to be his family and ran away from the sight, leaving the house to burn to ashes. Oh god it burns! It burns my skin! I cried in my head. However, in the middle of my pain, a memory began to play, as if it were a movie right before my eyes.
