"Okay! As you know HIRO is visiting here to take tests, so you have to be good boys and girls okay!" announces the teacher.
"Wow superheroes are coming over!" exclaims a child.
"Super cool!" yells another child.
"What's so good about heroes.?" asks Ray.
The children look over to Ray.
The first child shrugs and responds with, "They are just cool and awesome!"
Ray touches his nape. "I don't see what's so good about them.." mumbles Ray.
....
A while later...
"Next, Ray I-ichin... Please come in." shouts the doctor.
"It's I-chin-ose.." mutters Ray.
"That kid is pretty beaten up." says one of the doctors.
"Yeah.." replies another.
Ray walks in with the doctor who called him up.
"Hello I'm Doctor Rael and I'm here to check if you have any cool powers, do you want cool powers?" asks Dr. Rael.
"I..I don't really care for that," says Ray.
"Ooh, really now? Hmm. Well, that's too bad!"
Ray sweats a bit. "Huh?" asks Ray in a very confused tone.
"I'm going to check anyways~," Dr. Rael says with a cheeky grin.
"What kind of docto-"
"A good one!"
Dr. Rael interrupts Ray and scans Ray. As he moves the scanner a bit Ray struggles. The scanner beeps a cheery tune.
"??"
"Woah you have one! How wasteful you didn't even care about it haha."
"Wait really?"
"Yuppers!"
"What does that- urk!" moans Ray in pain, "What was that you old man!"
"A device, it keeps you safe because you are... Special!"
"Could've warned me!"
"And I always thought you were a quiet kid, huh!" sulks Dr. Rael.
Ray thinks, "What a childish doctor!"
"Okay, out you go Mr. Ray!"
Ray exits the room and enters the hallway. The children talk among themselves, some are even crying. When they hear the door shut behind Ray they all look at him.
"Hey, guys w-what's wrong?" Ray asks.
"N..none of us got..sniff.. powers!" One child answers.
"How come you got a bracelet!" Another child adds.
"Look I-I didn't choose to have powers.." said Ray.
"So you got powers!"
"No fair!"
"He's an outcast!"
The children all talk over each other as they complain over how unfair they didn't get powers. The day continued. Soon after Ray would be more isolated than before. There'd be days when he'd get a bit bullied. As the year went by the bullying escalated. He'd get hurt every day. The people at the orphanage didn't really care either. Having thoughts like "He doesn't really get hurt right? It's fine because he just heals right after." This went on and on 'till his last year of elementary. It's funny how he feels at home there.
