Scariest things I remember

Lucy.

A four year old cowers under her covers, her nightlight's light shining into the dark and cold hallway through her open door. Just around the corner, peeking out is Lucy. Lucy is not friendly, if you see her you will be tormented for life. She is not tall, maybe around three feet to four feet. She has shoulder length black, long, tattered hair all in frays. Her eyes are like circles and pure black, with red and black liquid pouring from her eyes at all time. Her mouth is also like a circle, rows and rows of sharp teeth are able to be seen inside that mouth of hers, her eyes look angry and filled with hunger. As the four year old peeks out from under her covers time and time again, Lucy gets closer, every time she peeks out, she gets closer, until she is face to face with this tiny demon. This little girl was not asleep, she was awake, she has never seen anything horrifying at this age.

Morning comes and Lucy is nowhere to be found. The girl looks around, terrified as she wasn't able to sleep or remember what happened after she was face to face with that demon child. She looks down at her arms and there are scratches everywhere along with jagged scars, carving into her left arm that she will be able to see years in the future, that scar is spelled out plainly, next to all the other scars but to her parents it looks like the cat got her. Her arm simply says "LUCY."

Years in the future now, the four year old is writing this story for you to read, they don't know if this was a dream or reality. When they look at their arm, if they look hard enough, there is a very faint scar in the shape of a name, barely able to be seen. They sit here, writing, trying to remember if it was just a dream or silently hoping it was.
